Tubes on the WA22 looks about right.

Using WE421a power tubes, TS 6F8G drivers and a UE 596 rectifier.  A very nice combo.  I just received a WE422a rectifier; we'll see how it sounds soon enough.
 
When comparing the HD800s with the LCD-X, I have been finding that I prefer the LCDs just a tiny bit over the 800s.  That is, I maybe prefer the LCDs 7 out of 10 times to the 800s.  Both sound fantastic with the WA22, to be sure.  I feel fortunate to have the setup that I do.

Very nice setup, but don't you think it's a tad unsafe to place the WA22 on top of an NAD M51? The WA22 weighs almost twice as much as an NAD M51. It could also affect the performance of either gear. Just saying...

im using the same combo right now on the Glenn OTL amp i'm borrowing and i love it!!!
 
the WE421A, 422A, TS 6F8G is probably one of the best tube combos i've heard. you are going to love the 422a!

As I said in the review, I use Toxic Silver Widow with the X and I get sonic improvements as well besides the awesome looks.
 
I have used the Toxic Silver Widow with LCD-X and I found to be a very good match for it, as it puts you a little further in the scene. It actually relaxes the treble a little more but gives it more extension and detail, improves the bass impact and makes it faster, the instrument separation is better and the sound is more detailed overall.

The case of the M51 is relatively (like 3/32 or so) thick metal.  Feels like steel to me, but I guess it could be aluminum.  At any rate, it seems plenty sturdy enough o support the weight of the 22.  In terms of affecting the performance of the two, I wasn't able to notice the difference between having them set side-by-side and having the amp on top of the DAC.  The metal case surrounding the DAC should shield the internal components from any transient EM waves that leak from the amps transformers, provided that each component is properly grounded and isolated.  I have each component plugged into an isolation transformer, which should shield them from any transients in the line signal.  As such, I am not too worried about a degradation in the performance by having them stacked.  It is true that the transformers in the amp could, in theory, generate induced currents in the chassis of the DAC, but since it's grounded I don't think it should be able to affect the internal components.  If anyone out there has any info in this regard, I'd be more than happy to hear it, though.  I could certainly be dead wrong, and I don't have a electrical engineer's insight into the behavior of AC transients.
