+1

Yep! But as others have noted, there is a certain, unique refinement to Mitch’s EQ, even compared to the Audeze presets. It sounds mature, yet engaging. Resolves v3/Chrono EQs are more colored/forward tonally, meanwhile Mitch’s is more neutral—but that balance really creates a spacious, textured listen that blends more seamlessly together across the frequencies. Hard to describe but it works well if you have a “musical” chain/AMP/DAC IMO.

I didn’t love it as first and figured losing $200 was okay relatively to how much it would cost to upgrade other parts of my chain, but Mitch’s FIR filter really grew on me as I went back between other EQs. I don’t really even bother with an additional bass shelf as the bass is still extended and detailed with the upper-mids reigned back.

I’m happy with the purchase:)
Good to hear you like it and your take on what it sounds like.

Mammoth LCD-5 review just dropped on CMA

Digging the comparison to Susvara. Honestly they're the only headphone I've heard that I felt get close technically to Susvara, so it's good to see this pair getting it's dues.

Wow! If Head-Fi was a person it would be this guy 😂 Every audiophile cliche is stuffed into that 45 minutes.

A little bit of knowledge + an overactive imagination + tens of thousands of dollars of consumer equipment that would be laughed out of a recording studio.

Everybody knows that Susvara needs 800 Watts minimum to wake up it’s lazy drivers and LCD5 needs 172 hrs of breaking in so that the midrange loses its crunchiness and becomes luscious /S

First time watching this reviewer. A bit over the top but I can sense the enthusiasm. Tigers though?? Very strange.

Anyways, i'd have to disagree on the the $25k chain. I have endgame with my mediocre mid-fi setup.

The chain is critical. Ideally you need a $60,000 chain to drive a Susvara. “Pump”400 Watts into a headphone without realising that headphones can only draw current based on Ohms law and the volume level 😂

Let's be real, all of us lot spending this much on headphones could do with more than ten minutes of existential musing
It's cute you're new here and still trying to hold on for dear life.

I mean the guy was gonna ban me in one group coz he said I have no experience. Me: susvara + diablo with great sub bass extension. Him: susvara + 400watts amp with artificially wide soundstage ... 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Heard the Susvara out of a NAIM streamer/speaker amp set-up. Mid-tier. And it was absolutely amazing. And if anyone accidentally knocked the volume past the 10th percentile I would have lost my hearing and in all likelihood blown the headphones. But that imaging! Nothing else has come as holographic outside of a two channel set-up.

I've actually started to prefer the LCD-5 over the Utopia/Danacable LR+ combination. The technical details and that slight softness in the planar sound leans itself to both casual and technical listening. And the mids no longer bother me... didn't quite take 180 hours of burning in ... But I've tuned my brain that I blink when I put the Utopia on.

Naim Headphone Edition and Chord Hugo2 drive the LCD-5 just fine. The Naim has the nod for more oomph.

just strike a a very good deal and got a pair of almost pristine LCD-5 from a local trading forum (the seller just bought at the end of May!). just got it home and happily enjoying/running in right now.

very preliminary impression: am i the only one feeling that the bass has very good texture? it gives similar rumble in the bass region i only heard from the SUS and HEKSE so far! very smooth and top tier resolution too. i only tried both lcd-5 and 4z in the local distributor showroom once when i took my AK TWS for repair there. the weight saving (also a tad smaller overall) is very obvious. it feels even lighter than the utopia and construction seems very solid. all in all, everything is positive so far
