Audeze LCD-4

@RCBinTN uses Bryson BHA-1 I believe and he has had this combo for awhile....maybe he can chime in ...I believe it to be a great combo.
I see you have Holo Spring Level 3, owned that a couple months back, it was just amazing IMO....wish I still had it now to test with inbound LCD-4.
Do any recent buyers of LCD-4 have the new earpads that are being talked about in the new X and XC thread...I think they are using a spacer also to vent air out under the pads to stop driver failure.

Sounds similar to what they do with the LCD4 pads. Felt spacer.

OK, so that was implemented with LCD-4 a while back....Also, the new 2021 earpads are thinner in distance from planar to ear.

I feel my ears are closer to the drivers when I have the yoke set to the the minimum for my head (2nd notch from bottom) and the higher the yoke setting (as high as 4th notch) the looser the fit and roomier it is for my ears and therefore further away my ears are from the drivers. In any case the position of the yoke provides a different sound and listening experience as you are essentially changing the fit. I prefer the 2nd notch as I feel my ears are closer to the driver and sound feels more accurate but 4th notch produces more bass. Just what I have observed.

Nice photography. Very professional looking and it certainly does highlight the beauty of the headphones.

I like the LCD4, but I struggle to love it. Such a great liquid tonality, with detail. But it's just a little too polite/laid back for my tastes. The problem with that for me is that I then turn it up too much, to try to bring them more forward, more to life-- which then hurts my ears (or it aggravates an old tympanic membrane fissure in my right ear). Also, I find with more volume the mid-range can become a bit 'shouty.' Anyone else experience this? Then there is the way they fit... Again, I really do like them-- they are outstanding in many ways--but my hearing idiosyncrasies find them challenging.

Very nice.. I also have the Stellia and Abyss from your long list of headphones. And the SOtM, and also the DX220/Amp8 (which I mainly use with the Stellia when out in the yard - great portable combo). My two main amps are the custom build Glenn 300B and 1101 Audio V6. These work great with the LCD4 and Abyss. Interested in hearing your comparison between these two. I'm keeping both.

I found something similar, but not quite as bad when I paired the Woo WA22 with the LCD4. A better and more powerful amp changed that. The LCD4 are not the most difficult to drive headphones I've had, but they are up there and like plenty of juice. You're now probably going to tell me you're driving them with something like the WA33 - and if that's the case, my thesis will be totally wrong :)

Nice, please share your impressions. Especially with the Wavelight and Wa33

They are on my list as well, unfortunately I lack friends nearby that share the passion for this hobby.

Wa22 will not drive LCD4 adequately. Even with Tung Sol 5998, it's barely acceptable. Auris Nirvana, my 300b amp and Oblivion drives it beautifully.

I will say that I have not experienced any "shoutyness" with the LCD4. Even at high volume. And I am driving them with the WA33.

Did you get the Oblivion specifically internally tuned/powered for your LCD-4 ?

Thanks man.
The May is a terrific dac indeed. I am enjoying it a lot and am comparing it with the wavelight. Just collecting and arranging some thoughts before sharing them.
