Audeze LCD-4

I find using the Audeze reveal plugin solves the treble issue on the 4. I do think that they are so close in sound that if weight or amp requirements are important, go with the 4z.
How is the 4 with your wa33? I have the 4z, which I bought for portable use, but I’m wondering if the 4 sounds particularly good with the wa33. You have TCs too, right? How do they compare with the 4 out of wa33?

I was debating selling the 4's, until I got the WA33. It has great synergy with the Woo. My Abyss Tc sounds fantastic with the WA33, but the biggest improvement was with the 4. Just the control is amazing. It opened up the sound stage of the 4 while tightening up the bass. All while maintaining the sweet mids. I ended up staying up way too late listening to the 4 and WA33.

You can ask Audeze to put the LCD-4 in the magnesium housing. I'm not sure how much this costs but I know for a fact that they do it. Would like to know how much is saved on weight in doing so.

That’s interesting. If they made it an option (at no cost ofcause. They’re expensive enough) I would strongly consider paying them full price.

Contact Audeze support. They are very accommodating. Also a cup change is not very expensive.

4z is not the same headphone though. From what I understand the LCD-4 is the better headphone.

Well then you understand incorrectly. Please don't put forward comments with headphones you haven't heard, it only confuses others. They are far closer to each other than different and IMO one does some things a tad better in some areas and visa versa. Both are amazing flagship headphones that are more similar than different.

they are both very close with each having different strengths and weaknesses...the great thing about the 4z is you can use it straight out of the chord dave and it sounds terrific...the 4 needs an external amp to sound its best

I would be more inclined to choose one or the other based on the tuning. To my ears they do not sound the same in the mids and highs and the sound stage is different. Some of you that have auditioned both will say the differences are negligible but I disagree.

There certainly was a substantial difference with my v280 amp. I preferred the overall balance of the 4 for my preferences.
It is personal - what you prefer

They should be fine...usually just minor cup imperfections

B-stock would put lcd-4/4z in my price range of 2-2.5K. He1000v2, HD800s, ADX5000 and ZMF Verite are on my short list. Maybe Maze Empyrean if price is right.

One of the dealers might have some but I haven’t contacted them yet.
