Audeze iSINE 10 & iSINE 20: Audeze releases two new IEM planar magnetic earphones

Yeah I hear you. usually I would also just use them as a portable rig. but i have problems with my ear when listening to over ear headphones unfortunately...so these little things were my promise for headphone like sound in an iem :)
but i get what you saying with putting eq software in between
cheers

EDIT: so if there is any iem out there anyone knows of that can do that (except the lcdi4 for obvious reasons, being a student with limited resources :) ) let me know haha

It may depend on what qualifies as "headphone-like" sound. If what you're looking for is something that's more open-sounding than an IEM, with a wider soundstage and good sound quality, earbuds are certainly worth a look.

I have a pair of Venture Electronics Zen 2.0 that I like quite a bit, and there are other high-end earbud offerings from other makers (Shozy, Rose, Yuin), might be worth looking into. The Zen has a wider soundstage than the iSine 20 and does not (for me) require any EQ, although I would not say they sound as good the iSine. If you're curious but don't want to spend much, pick up a pair of VE's Monks and see if the form factor works for you.

If you want something that is overall similar to the iSine but doesn't need EQ, the Unique Melody Me.1 is a similar design, a semi-open planar IEM. At $759, they're more than a pair of iSine 20 but still much less than an LCD i4.

Haven't posted in a while (over three years) but have lurked during that time. I recently purchased the iSine 20 during Audeze's refurb sale, and I wanted to give back to the headphone community, especially since Audeze's fine product really benefits from it, so…

Want to try out the Cipher tunings on your iSine but don't have the Cipher cable? Interested in using that nice portable DAC you already own with the iSine analog cable? Based on posts by kmann, particularly this post,

https://www.head-fi.org/threads/aud...netic-earphones.818870/page-167#post-13518210

I've created EQ presets that work in Onkyo HF Player (tested on iOS but should work on Android too) that very closely follow the curves shown, so that you don't have to draw them in the app yourself. See below. The Dropbox links allow you to use a mobile browser to transfer them to HF Player.

Now, you can use your mobile device and Onkyo's EQ with an outboard DAC/amp choice or combo of your choosing and drive the iSine with the supplied analog cable. Or, try out the V2 EQ before buying the newest Cipher cable so you can travel light and get EQ when using Tidal. As I recall, the V2 tuning is what the current Cipher cable uses, but I may be wrong (perhaps it depends on which planar magnetic model you have).

Awesome work!

Thanks! One of the nice things about HF Player is that one can edit with a finger swipe. Here's an example of an edit on the V2 tuning where the bass boost is toned down. I like the sound of the Audeze LCD planars, so I don't need so much of a bass boost. The HF Player EQ interface removes points easily if you swipe right or left, so you can keep the complicated parts of the high frequencies while tuning the bass to taste.

@FooFighter can you share your Audeze EQ settings pls.
For exact LCD-2 house sound:
Look at the post above from jazzman 7 if you're using analog cable + boost bit more the 4K frequencies than shown in the screenshot's
If you're using cipher cable only boost the 4K frequence, should be about same as LCD - 2

But you could use EQ for your own taste, I boosted alot more the EQ than the cipher settings for a fat mid tone and impactful bass
Sounds really nice if you're listening to metal for example :)

I have a question for anyone listening to Spotify via isine 20 + cipher (on an I-phone 6). How loud is your volume (in how many bars?) just out of curiosity. I have bad judgement about this and do not wanna ruin my hearing in the mid-long term.
thank you
About two volume clicks below middle when I'm chilling. Two volume clicks above middle if I am jamming out.

Thnks man.
My ears are so sensitive it's ridiculous.
I can only hear at 4 bars. Going up to 5 already gives me discomfort and mild pain the next day. Unfortunately that's when the phones become to sound great and show off...haha

I usually am on 3 clicks from mute, 4 if I want to rock out (iPhone 6 user here too). Maybe I just listen very quietly? Curious as to what levels other users are listening at.

Exact same for me.
As I wrote in the post below, 5 from mute starts giving me discomfort already.
Everything above the middle would be pretty loud for me and only sustainable for a short term. Maybe good for the ears, but bad in terms of sound. Starts getting exciting at 4 and up I have the feeling..above would probably still be perfectly okay for someone with normal ears/hearing
