Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015

  Thanks for the answer.

Mine is produced November 2015. It doesn't go away in my case when I move the cans (if that's what u mean by changing the seal)

Well, if you pulled the cups away from your ear and then place them back on, that changes the seal. I believe this does this, because the membrane is sort of like an "infinite baffle" subwoofer. They are technically open, but they do not allow air to pass from one side to the other (through the cups). Then again, I could be totally wrong, but someone here will correct me.

My 2016 version too. Headband is sometimes cracking when manipulating the headphones, but no noise when put on my head listening music

Once I get the seal right, it doesn't make any more noise. It does sound great though.

It's strange. Sometimes it doesn't make that crackling sound, and sometimes it does. Moreover, the problem is more appearent on the left side.

It's not a big issue, I always sit on my desk with these, and I don't move too much. But still it's kinda annoying..

I've seen the same problem.

Just purchased a HE-400i and this headphone is now on sale for $450. Shoukd I return my order and get this one instead? Spent one night with the 400is and they are amazing. Just want to know if I'm missing on on anything, I have no experience experience with his brand

That is a tough question to answer but if the EL8 open is $450 then I would go with that since its a great price.  The HE-400i has been on sale for $300 in the past but have never seen the EL8 that low.

I do not regret selling the HE-400i for the EL-8 Open. It could be the 2016 version, but I feel the EL-8 has more of pretty much everything. If I were going on price alone, the HE-400i is a very nice headphone (and more comfortable to boot).

Yea my vote is definitely for the EL-8 open if you don't mind paying a little more for it.

At roughly $200 more (depending on where you get it from), it is a nice step up.
