Just check and yes they do have EL-8 termination. With tax, the final price is about $150... still little over what I expected, but will keep them in mind if I cannot find anything else. Thank you for the info!

There are probably modders out there still. I have done a bunch myself but the internals of the EL-8 wire are complex. The whole wiring on the headphone was a huge fail. If they didn't sound so good I would have dumped these years ago.

I think I paid $40 each to convert stock 3.5 cables to 4.4/2.5.

$40 is very cheap... and I know Peterek used to be the go to person for headphone and cable modding, but seems like he's disappeared...wish that guy is still available.

Ok... I wanted to get your thoughts... I REALLY like my EL-8. I found a brand new pair on eBay and might pick them up as a backup in case my pair ever breaks. The only thing that still really annoys me is the cable. Has anyone found a similar headphones sound signature wise?

Hi all, there was a lot of misinformation as to what may be a 2015/2016 pair of EL-8s, and this confused me when buying my pairs. So, from Audeze themselves, here are the serial numbers for the 2016 revisions. Anything below these and you have a 2015 pair:

E1107889, E3301251, E2201050 or T3301517
