I believe so. Gustarenderer just works better with Roon than any other protocol. (No clicks, pops, dropouts etc etc)
Wifi repeater is great to use. Highly recommend FMCs as well.

@Deutschefach from which country did you buy your AH90 ? I'm looking at one, I already have a roon subscription, so using roon is not an issue for me.

@camrector Do I understand correctly, the AH90 is optimised for roon ? This looks great to me, but I would have to use a wifi repeater (TPlink RE330, or similar) or a power line network adaptor, to get the lan into the AH90.

It is recommended to use an external linear power supply of 2.5A and above.
12 to 15 volt，More than 15V is bad and may damage the device.

3A is ideal, 5A is even better.

With more sufficient linear power, you can hear a more stable, more energetic, and more fulfilling sound field when playing music.

We once tested the 1A power supply and the AH90 could not start.
So there is no need to try an underpowered power supply even if it is less noisy.

I am going to place an order for an AH90, there are two options for me, one in Hungary the other in France. Since I live in France, I'll go with Audiophonics.

It is unique at the price point because it is the only unit that is DAC, Headphone amp & Streamer. You will use another app to pick your music. I use both Roon and Tidal. Roon gives a huge amount of information and organized our collection of around forty thousand titles without making it seem challenging. I did install JRiver early on and Foobar, but they are almost never used. I have a Moon Line Stage amp and a Moon CD-1. I purchased early on a WiiM pro that has no DAC. If I want to run Chromecast the only way to do that is over the WiiM, but since Chromecast is Lossy, it is less interesting. I am perfectly happy, and I was a professional opera singer. If I am not itchy to get rid of it, it must be doing something right. Could I be tempted to go for a higher end unit. Realistically it is 900€ Less than an A26. I love the unit. My partner does too.

It works with our network. Sounds great through the LAN port. If you intend to stream use the Lan port. Ask Audiophonics what the release level of the Firmware is going to be on your machines. The latest version enables decoding DSD. Let me know what they tell you.

At this price performance it does all three and is super.

I am perfectly happy, and I was a professional opera singer. If I am not itchy to get rid of it, it must be doing something right. Could I be tempted to go for a higher end unit. Realistically it is 900€ Less than an A26. I love the unit. My partner does too.

I won't be ordering for a couple of weeks, I'm going to be away from home for a while. I know professional (until recently) musicians who don't much care about sound quality. I was an IT specialist, the company I started with hired musicians, I've always loved music, but in all honesty I've never been motivated enough to learn an instrument properly.

I've been all over the place wrt to Audio equipment, the best line stage I've ever had cost me 600€, the most expensive 5k€, price has little bearing on how audio gear can sound. These days roon is my sweet heart, I love what it will throw up for me and I really like the in depth profiles that it will give for artists and albums, I have it tied in to my Qobuz account.

I will ask Audiophonics about the firmware the AH90 ships with, thanks for the tip.

Many reviews on the usual YouTube audio channels, nothing directly with AH90. Audiophonics has a very high opinion of the DMP-A6. For my use case, it ticks the right boxes, notably -

• roon ready
• WiFi network connection

It has many other features, such as, it has a server (samba) capability and up to 4TB of nvme storage can be installed. It doesn’t have a headphone amp, which is not an issue for me.

I’m pretty certain this is the route I am going to take.

@GUSTARD really should fix this, finally. I have run into the issue that Roon neither could detect my KEF LS50 II nor the AH90, yesterday. The reason was that my router gave the AH90 the same ip address the KEFs already have (their ip address is fixed). The problem was solved by switching from AH90's LAN input to USB and back.

The AH90 is causing lots of entries in the ip address history..

Which firmware is the problem on?

I wanted a great match and got one. Let me make a suggestion. If you go out on youtube you should ask Tharbamar directly for his opinion. I did a lot of back and forth with him. He is the first person to test almost all these devices. I discussed the DMP-A6. with him. I discussed speakers and many other matters with the reviewers. I make my own decision. I didn't want Sabre overkill. I wanted a headphone, amp because I have missed having one, and no matter how long I own this unit, I can always spend more and get a lot less or 1 or 2% more. But I ask myself is it worth 25% more cost. I sang opera for many years and still teach. I do not feel I am missing out. The AH90 is musical. I will wait until Gustard updates their A26 units. At this point, I have a complete system, a well managed music library, a streaming service with hi-res, and nobody is complaining. If you want a new and very super DAC the Musician Pegasus II or the SMSL SU-X are both super. But they do not have the mix of capabilities I treasure in the AH90, at the price point I want to invest.

No, it was not fixed. Still a problem though not on Roon or with the HQPlayer. It is (in my case) a problem when using the JPlay iOS app. The settings get lost each time thank to the changing MAC address.

If you want a new and very super DAC the Musician Pegasus II or the SMSL SU-X are both super. But they do not have the mix of capabilities I treasure in the AH90, at the price point I want to invest

You raise sound (pun intended) points in your post. I haven’t asked Tharbamar directly, but I see from the two reviews (AH90 & DMP-A6) why you respect his opinion.

Whatever I choose, I am still undecided, both would be good choices for me. I’m leaning towards the DMP-A6, but his description of the AH90 alludes to a sense of, for want of a better expression, “lifelike”, or living and breathing music.
