ATTICUS and EIKON, the new dynamic driver headphones from ZMF

From what Zach told me the Atticus has a puncher bass (a hump in the sub bass)and the Eikon may reach lower with less distortion also it's a little more transparent. Both have a smooth treble. At least that's what I get out of all the talk from people that have tried them. I could be wrong though.

I would say that is pretty accurate, and I would also add that the Atticus seems to gain a significant bit of extra magic when you get a little extra bloom in the bass and mids from an OTL tube amp.

I listen mainly to hip hop, dubstep, rap, metal and other bass driven genres. Any suggestion which headphone would suit me the best? Really not looking for another bright headphone =)

They both will do great, I like the extra "Boom" the Atticus gives, but they both reach low and have rumble.  Neither will be bright, the Eikon is a little more linear up top, both are clear sounding.  The Atticus only has a couple DB less treble but it resolves just as well.

  Hi Folks,

Any advice on which of the two new models would sound best with a McIntosh MHA100 driving it?

That amp will drive either of them great, I only have limited time with it at shows,  I think either model will be done justice by it.  No power issue at all, I've more or less been telling people that warmer sources work well with Eikon and more linear with Atticus, just because the Atticus is more lush, but it really depends on your taste.

A couple other minor updates:

1.  I've received a lot of emails about people wondering if they are in the first batch or not.  Everyone who has ordered so far is, we have a few more left out of the first 75.  The only thing that happens once we go over 75 is that we have to make more wood cups really, so the actual delay would be minimal even if you don't make it within the first 75 orders.

2.  Paypal recently switched their payment method etc, it's working fine and everyone who has used paypal don't worry, we've received the order.  I have a bounce page up with a contact form that after ordering through paypal you will go to, if you have any questions just email me.

3.   Everyone who ordered will get an "order sheet" in the next few days, it will contain just your last name and details about your order as well as the other headphones that are in your "production batch."  You'll be able to follow your headphones progress here and I will update it as much as possible so there is the least amount of speculation with what's going on.  You'll see when certain parts are ready, when your headphone is being finished etc etc.  I think it's really helpful while waiting to make it less of a guessing game!

Thanks again!

Unfortunately it's just an amp.

Looking back at the November sale for the Zebrawood Omnis and I noticed the grain looked identical to mine. Then it finally dawned on me that those are probably mine because I asked to not see pictures before it got delivered!
