ATTICUS and EIKON, the new dynamic driver headphones from ZMF

Other than grizz saying he's never heard a headphone more capable of being so good at so many genres. Maybe that's all I needed to hear come to think of it lol. Sometimes when your antsy your cravings are insatiable

to clarify... "a closed back more ideal for multi purposes and EDM"

I am a big fan of budget audio, so I like to thing in favor of the consumer, not the profit factor for manufacturers.

The build quality of these headphones is elite. It looks like a Sony R10 and is built like a tank. Nothing is going to break on these headphones any time soon if handled correctly.

You hold them in your hands and get the smell of the finished woods and leather. It's a luxurious experience.

The sound quality matches anything in its price range.

You could buy a sony R10 for three to five thousand dollars and have the headband snap, or the drivers take a dump and you will be out your money. Buy a pair of these and you will have a original owner's warranty on your biocellulose (or TPE) drivers for the life of the product.

Factor all of this in and we have a unique product that is very worthy of its asking price. Go to a show and listen to the two of them and decide for yourself if one of them are for you. I'm just warning you now, you might like both. The signatures of the two are tayloered to match two distinct listening preferences.

are there any opportunities for midwest locals to hear these besides AXPONA @zach915m ?

I was doing the tourist thing over in Chicago 9 years ago and was recommended Giordanno's by someone for lunch while cruising around downtown. Amazing
Well, "Chicago-style" is technically a thin, high sodium, cracker-like crust. It was originally offered for free as a bar snack because the sodium would dry people out and make them buy more booze. Sort of a fun, little-known fact.

Deep-dish is by far the more famous brand of Chicago pizza. Obviously, Uno, Lou Malnatti's and Geno's are the most well-known. However, I would argue Giordano's and (especially) Pequod's represent the best of what Chi-town pizza has to offer.

Does anyone have a blowout view of the driver design for both Atticus and Eikon? I like to geek out on driver technology. Specially dynamic drivers, since it's the most common type of implemented technology, and I find most of the innovative and competitive designs here. We see other companies do this all the time, even Mr.Speakers are more candid about their driver designs now. The recent headfi interview of Nicolas Debard of Focal talks in great detail about their loud speaker design approach is really fascinating and really makes good case for why they priced their headphones that way.

Edit: Never mind, he's updated his website.

Ok, in terms of design, seems all the interesting designs are found in the bio-cellulose driver.

The TPE driver seems too generic for me, underwhelming even, especially for its price.

It's gonna be interesting to compare ZMF's new heaphones to The Empiric headphone which Innerfedility himself has measured with favorable results, it's the same deal, an outsource dynamic driver and DIY custom housing and earcups.

No offense to the Empiric or any other DIY headphones (sorry I don't consider the Eikon or Atticus DIY what-so-ever), but the driver used in those is far inferior to what we are using in the Atticus and Eikon. I have tried these drivers and while they are OK, they are not close to the sonic capabilities of the Atticus and Eikon drivers.  Do remember though headphone drivers are only part of the equation and I'm sure the Empiric got every ounce out of that driver as design is a huge part of how a headphone will sound, that headphone looks REALLY awesome with a great design.  Drivers are important, but without proper implementation any driver will sound ghastly.

Our drivers were completely tuned and designed for a specific sound from the ground up (even if the Atticus driver looks more boring than the Eikon driver), and while the driver in the "Empiric" is cool, it's an off the shelf driver bought from Alibaba, not one that was tuned and re-tuned with design changes and then new moulds made for a specific goal which we went through with both the Atticus and Eikon drivers.

I didn't share more pictures of the final Atticus TPE driver because all the final versions are in full headphones as this picture is from a previous version (but very similar.)  I will post new pics once a few more driver sets come in from our MFR.

I am probably going to host a "mini-meet" at some point here in Chicago at my place in Lyons, IL.  I'll post details when I figure that out.  Hopefully before X-mas.

Do you think that the Eikon is better than the Atticus with Prog-Metal music ?

I personally have been enjoying the Atticus with heavy guitar music, most of the "harder" stuff I listen to is like Rage and Audioslave though.....I do have a couple Opeth tracks on my playlist too.

One of them really looks so close to r10. Wood baffle and all.

Is the biocell similar to th900 type? Plant based.

Yeah it's the same membrane material, I don't know the specifics of the th900 driver though.

Glad you mentioned that, Opeth is one of my favourite bands and the RATM/Audioslave/Soundgarden/etc. genre is probably what I listen to the most these days along with hip hop. A lot of guitar heavy stuff in my playlists.
