Also. These don't sit/press against your ears do they? The pads look too small to completely cover any ears.

No. For most of us, these are on-ears with the stock pads.
That's why I have to replace them right away ^_^

Has anyone replaced the stock pads with alpha pads? It seems everyone uses the L3000 pads, which is like $40~ more than the alpha pads, and it still sits on top of your ears. Maybe these headphones are meant to be used on-ear?

I thought [from reading other head-fiers posts] that the Alpha pads tend to change the sound of other headphones?

I also need to try J$money pads with my w1000x... I might not though seeing as I have no need. but yea they are pretty much On ear ISH headphones... but the L3000 pads r super comfy!

The L3000 pads fit the W1000X.  You just need to insert the slightly wider portion of the pad's lip into the deeper section of the slot in the ear cup and slowly insert the rest of the lip into the cup from there.  It stretches a decent amount, just don't use your finger nail tip with too much force and you should be able to insert them.

I think there was a youtube video for installing AT pads if you need more of a visual guide, but I'm unable to access youtube right now.

  very comfy omg,

and i feel like it improves the sound....im not sure...maybe its not true... lol

The soft and supple leather of L3000 pads are definitely more comfy than the stock pleather W1000X pads.  Perceived differences in sound is probably dependent on whether or not you get a better seal with the new pads or with the old.

I find the sound is much improved. The seal for me was equal on both pads, but the L3000 was more balanced oh that and comfier
