… The M50s already sound better than the QC2s imo... whole line of bose headphones give a very—for lack of a better word—"fake" sound. I would take the M50s over QC2s hands down any day.

The M50 was a little underhyped for a while until they gained a little bit of recognition and people realized how great they are, especially at their price point.  Then they became VERY popular, and pretty rightly so.  They're a great pair.

The M50s will not disappoint you in any case, I believe.  As far as headphones go they're not an old model.  The pro700mk2 are not too well known or popular so it's a risk to buy them if you're on a bet.  They might be nice though.

From a few things I've read, it seems that PRO700MK2 improves sound in a not so small manner when compared to the older PRO700. Some people said it had sound signature that was closer to the M50s.

I currently own a rebadged PRO700, and I can safely say that it doesn't have overpowering bass like some people say, clearer than I expected, specially after some EQing to flatten the freq response and bring out any details that might be rolled off.

Mainly, I like both the fact that the MK2 improve over the previous model, and that they now have detachable cables.
