Ok, so FINALLY I will be ordering one of these two this week. Here are my requirements:

*Must isolate a fair amount of noise and prevent considerable sound leakage.

*Must work well UNAMPED driven from my iPhone.

*Must have good, impacting, yet clean bass.

*Will be using these mostly for hard rock and techno.

So, I'm as is currently leaning towards the m50, and since I've seen no thread comparing these two, I thought I'd make one and get some advice.

So, which should I go for?

Any and all help is really appreciated ^^

PS- Just thought I should put out there the fact that I can get the Senns for $79.99 + shipping and the m50's for $98.00 + shipping.

I guess Audio-Technica is closer to your expectations. I own the HD438 but they are not exactly what you expect. They sound pretty flat with good midrange and soundstage. The bass goes low but is not overly accentuated due to velour ear pads. Their isolation isn't impressive either. It's just fine for city communication.

I owned the HD438's for about a week before returning them to Best Buy. Spent an extra $50 or so to get the M50's and the difference is pretty big. The M50's are better all around.
