I think I've narrowed down my choice in cans to these: ATH-AD2000 and ATH-AD1000PRM
 
I have no heard either and I live in the middle of nowhere, so I can't try them and I doubt people would lend them to me. Anyways, here's my full play list:

Why not just buy a pair, try them out at your leisure, and then if you don't like them, sell them here on the For Sale/Trade Forum, or eBay, or Amazon's Marketplace?  Best way I've found to try out new headphones.  And you don't lose much money in the process.  I think of it as a "rental fee". 
 
After recently "discovering" Head Fi, I'm on my 10th pair of headphones that way (check out my sig).  And you can overlap pairs to directly compare too.

I find the ad2000s do great with radiohead and with post rock. They do great with almost every genre.
