My first dive into portable audio. Got myself a pair of ATH-A900, I must say I do rather enjoy them. Takes a little to get used to how their sit on your head. They arn't a one shoe fits all kind of headphone, so people live them others completely detest them. 
Some say lacking in the bass but i do not hear that at all. They do not even require an amp to go fairly well. Even a small Fiio E5 goes well. Glad others share the same opinions :)
