Do the Audio Technica AT-705 Elecrets need to have the adapter box they plug into ( 4 pin DIN ) or can these be modded to run off a decent amp with a 1/4" jack?
I searched around a fair bit for an answer but nothing. I would assume they do but on the off chance the mod will work somehow that would be great.
Thought it was worth asking. Someone must know.

no headphone jack will provide the voltages the headphone will need. that's why there is an adapter box. you hook it back to a speaker amp and it will go through the box increasing the voltages then send it to the drivers in the headphones.

but to your question you can possiablely rewire it to a 1/4'' jack but it's seriously not advisable.

Thanks sort of thought that was the case, just maybe there was some slim chance of a mod. I don't own them but was considering.

I'm in the same boat. Bought the cans sans amp and trying to figure out if they are basically paperweights now.
