Asus STX II Vs Creative ZXR
Oct 5, 2015 at 9:38 AM Post #106 of 337
I wish I could put the Muses02 in the buffers in the ZXR,but its a dual channel,as the buffers in the ZXR requires mono.
SS3602+ LT1028ACN is superior to Muses02+LT1028ACN

HI.by the end of the week I'll try the muses02 with LT1028ACN and I'll update.
honestly I don't think of going back to standard opamps as I already ordered mono's SS3601 for the buffers, also from sparko's labs.

wow nice to hear.
but now you test the ZXR with:

SS3602+ LT1028ACN
vs
muses02 + LT1028ACN11
vs
muses02 + ss3601
vs
SS3602 +  ss3601

i cant wait for your test....

  New Discrete Opamps arrived!
The Sparkos Labs SS3602
http://sparkoslabs.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/SS3601_SS3602.pdf
All I can say my dear fellas,is screw all Opamp from TI,Muses,ADI etc
The Sparkos Labs SS3602,Discrete Opamps, are put simply, just amazing.
The sound is very warm, wide and analog, specious without feeling distant Like AD8599 for example, noise and distortion....well there isn't any..:)
Although expensive,they worth every penny.
Sound is well balanced, without favors to any scale,Bass is tidy and clean, vocals are pleasant,Mids are present without being harsh, the highs are the best I've heard lately from any sound system, crystal clear and soft to the ears, without losing ground.
First I tried them in the I\V section in my Asus STX II,with muses02 in the buffers, while they sounded great and punchy,Asus were dumb enough to share the same screw for the bracket and shield, and since those SS3602 are huge,I had to gave up the shield.
So I went back to the creative ZXR,put them in the I\V,combined with LT1028ACN in the buffers, and compared to the STX,sound is just as great and even maybe more specious and more controlled, just amazing job by sparko's labs.
Finally an Opamp that is true to its meaning and claim,A first class audio Opamp,A new champ, the high claimed Muses02 costs almost the same price, and doesn't deliver half the sound quality of the SS36

That's one hell of a setup! Very nice. How did you come up with LT1028ACNs? They don't seem to be very popular. Damn, I think I'll be back on track for searching for opamp replacement again! Keep up with your updates :)

I'm using SS3602 and I can't put the EMI Shield  back.. The SS3602 is too high. I have SS3601 too. I'm thinking about SS3601 usage (if the emi shiled can't go back: it's all the same.. :) ) But perhaps I can use the EMI shild (but without SS3602) with  the SS3601.

Well, finally the SS3601 arrived,Installed them just today in my ZXR as buffers, and WOW,combined with the SS3602 in the I\V,such a complete package, blows everything
I've tried so far, including the LT1028,AD797,OP627 and so on.
The sound is super sweet, analog, enjoyable, everytime I change the opamp's on any sound card,my benchmark song,as funny as it might sound,is creed's song overcome,
And everytime it sounded like a total mess, with uncontrolled highs and the bass all messed up.
Well, that's not the case with Sparko's Labs opamp's,just AMAZING job,I can say I'm Done with swapping opamp's. It's all I've been looking for all the time.
Instruments sound great, vocals are great, very balanced, with lots of air, without being distant, warm. brilliant job!
Some asked me to try muses02 with the LT1028ACN,well,to my opinion, the Muses02 is NE5532 with lower noise, they sound just about the same, just cleaner.
I would just skip Them, though they sound nice in some occasions, they, like most opamp's I've tried, just sound harsh and give the listener ear fatigue, at first they sound great, but become intolerable very quick.
Now all I need are some spacers so I might be able to fit the EMI shield back...:)

My new case

^To people request, tried this set also, the sound is good but boring, digital, and can be harsh, got the same results with the NE5532,while the NE5532 sounded even livelier, with more punch.

Still,Those logitech speakers are the best!!

Next week Im going to find some store that will cut a small square in the EMI shield,so I'll be able to fit it back.

I'm taking triple SS3602's under advisement for my STX, as well; my current computer-hardware priorities are for Western Digital® WD7500BFCX's enough for two desktop rigs.  Logitechs?  Why not Mackies?  I've a contingency for hunting down an undecided number of NOS HR626's and a NOS HRS120 sub to replace the Coby® 5.1 rig I have as a stand-in; this will also provide for an upgrade to an STX II 7.1 set-up (or alternately a sidegrade to an ST 7.1).
