Astell & Kern SR25: The next A&norma player

does anyone know any free big podcast app that actually works to install on an A&K 25?

I am so incredibly frustrated with how bad the UI and the android version is, why they have a "white list" of apps on their website where half of them are only available in the US? and one of them that is isn't is last.fm which still doesn't work, but rant aside, I can't instally google podcast god knows why, apple podcast apparently only in the US..

any suggestions for me? thank you so much.
This is not going to helpful, but here goes anyway. The SR25 is great for listening to CD/HiRes music files. That's the only thing I do with it. Podcasts, that's for my iphone to take care of. That, and music on the go/while walking/exercise.

Not sure if it's the right thread to post this, do let me know if it needs to go somewhere else...

Got a new AK SR25MKII a month back, and have been problems running Soundcloud. Downloaded it via Open App Service.
I get the message “Soundcloud won’t run without Google Play services, which are not supported by your device.” It is not allowing me to log in.

Heard great things about the AK Support in EU, sent them the pics, but no response from them at all. I'm guessing their Support is not that good judging by this interaction.
Running the 1.06 Firmware, didn't update yet because I was not entirely sure if I should. Is that the problem? Or is it because I'm in the EU and the app is local to US?

Would appreciate any help...

The AK software team is aware of this issue. The latest version of SoundCloud changed the authentication requirements to use Google Play Services for authentication. Since AK players do not have Google Play Store installed, the newest version of the app will not work. An older version should work without issue. The support team is currently looking into options for future support of the app.

Thanks so much for writing quick...
Any ideas on which version of the app please? I tried a Nov 2020 release and a May 2020 release. Even if you have a range of month/year, pl let me know and I'll try it all out!

If I remember correctly, we've used the 2021.06.04-release here in the US in the past. The message still pops up about Google Play services, but you can just hit ok and you are able to log in without issue and everything works. I will pull out a SR25 and test again as it has been a while.

New firmware expected to be released tonight for both the SR25 and SR25 MK II around 11 pm ET/8 pm PT (morning of July 20th in Korea) with additional Bluetooth and Wi-Fi stability fixes.

For the first gen SR25, new firmware will also add the download tab to the services menu which provides the ability to download supported apps from the player without having to manually load them using a computer. This is the same as what is currently available on the SR25 MK II.

Will the Bluetooth stability fixes work on the mk1 as well?

yes, I edited my post. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi stability issue fixes are for both the SR25 and SR25 MK II. The SR25 will also get the additional new feature of the download tab for streaming services, which is already available on the SR25 MK II since launch.

this was sweet! Spotify now works which is great.

New question though, I can't figure out how to quit an app (in this case Spotify so it might be in there somewhere) once it is running. I start listening to some podcast then it is permanently stuck as an active task on the top drop down menu and possibly messing with the battery life, wifi/bluetooth etc. I can't find any sort of quit button. Surely I do not need to go back to services and force a stop every time (I've never used Spotify on android so the solution might be obvious :relaxed:) ? thanks

What about the SR15? Please tell me it hasn’t been abandoned.
