What exactly is the question, tho?

If I was using the SE100 as a DAC, would I set my Tidal app to pass through like my Pre Box?

That I don't know. Ask Jason the A&K rep here on headfi.

I have a question for Jason; Jason, can you confirm that the cd ripper mkII does not work correctly with the SE100. I bought the aforementioned cd ripper and i cannot edit metadata directly on the se100 as the option to edit before burning is non existent

@mochifi

Unknown to me, our development team changed the way playlists are handled with the latest firmware.

Due to the way some streaming music apps handle playlists built into the app, they needed to change playlist properties on the player. Previously, you could create a playlist and save it in any folder. Starting with firmware 1.10, you can only save playlists in the playlist folder in internal memory.

Here is the official info from our development team:

Notice: Playlist file operation method change.

Affects AK users who use SP1000(M), SE100 and SR15 and Open App firmware.

There was change of Playlist file (*.m3u) operation method when using the new F/W which supports openAPK.

Before F/W update, Playlist files (*.m3u) can be recognized when saved in any folder.

After the v1.10 update, Playlist files can be only recognized when they are located in the “Playlist" folder in the root folder.

This change is because :
- when using the Open App service, some application creates playlist file(*.m3u) themselves.
- In this case, AK system recognize this *.m3u file created by an app as an AK original Playlist.
- Such Playlists cannot be played by the AK player and it can cause confusion with originally created playlists.
- To prevent this issue, we changed the operation method of playlist files so that only playlists in the “Playlist” folder can be recognized.

Thank you.
Any updates on this?

Good and bad News at the same time. With the new 1.41 Firmware Amazon Music HD is working finally for me. The bad thing the device is restricted to 24Bit/48KHz, every file with higher bitrate is only played with 24Bit/48KHz. I´ll stick further with Tidal till this issue is not solved.

So, how long is the firmware update supposed to take? It has been over an hour and seems to be locked up with "Fastboot" appearing in the upper left corner.
Should take less than 5 minutes

@JasonNYC, hoping you can help. Since updating to 1.41 today, my wifi is not working. I tried forgetting, then rejoining the network. I get no errors, but the WiFi icon is open, with no bars inside. If I go into Apple Music, it says the player is in Airplane mode, but I can't find and settings for this. I even did a full reset on the unit, and still have the same issue. Any tips?

Thanks, Gordon

@JasonNYC, some more information. I tried connecting using my phone as a hotspot and it worked. I think the new firmware has changed the WiFi band plan to country other than Australia and it's not seeing my routers old channel anymore. Obviously it worked this morning as I did the OTA update. Then I changed the router channel (to 6), and now the SE100 is working fine.

It would be good to get this fixed. I may need to use Hotel WiFi etc sometime...

I am very confused.

A&K is selling all kinds of units in the last year and I have no idea of the relative merits of each.

All was fine when we had, for example, a low end AK70, and then the SR. And then there was the SE100, and then the top end 1000.

Now they are all over the place with units that don’t fit into any category. While the gobbledygook techno-speak details for these older units was fine, and we basically understood that as we spent more, the units got better, now we don’t know where things are.

This new SA700, for example, sells for a few hundred less than the SE100 did, but is it better, or worse, or the same? It’s more than a year newer in technology, but priced less. And that’s without getting into the “more powerful amp” units, etc.

What does this all mean?
