More expensive does not always mean better!

A lot of people here on head fi would say dx200 and amp 8 compete with totl flagships like the wm1z. I've never listened to dx200 so I can't compare, but I am very much enjoying the se100. However, if you have amp8 then it means you probably have 4.4 and this is 2.5.

Headphonelist has a review on se100 and they stated that the dx200 is more holographic. What performance boost are you looking to increase from your dx200?

Good point. I think it's because I've never had an astell and Kern. Maybe I should try a cheaper one first. Ak70ii is quite cheap around here.

Maybe but its riddle with UI Problems. I have read all the dx200 head fi posts. A lot of people not happy with dx200.
I'm just saying.

I have used the dx150 which is similar to dx200. The ak has a slick fluid UI which is pretty awesome compared to the dx150, it is night and day. Plus I do enjoy the giant screen on it and really looks like a luxury product compared. However, sq alone it sounds great but it depends on how much you are willing to spend for that extra bit.

Ie sony wm1a sounds pretty good, and for 700 more you can buy the se100 which to me sounds better but just barely so depends on how much you can spend. Goodluck hope this helps.

@androidjedi Firmware version 1.11 was released this morning that should fix the battery indicator issue. Are you still having problems after the update?

I took the plunge and ordered an SE100 yesterday which should arrive tomorrow. I currently use a Pioneer XDP-300R with either Oppo PM-3's or red Shure SE535's both with balanced cables. I'm looking forward to listening to the SE100

I have got Se100 and Oppo pm3 with balanced cable (copper and silver).... SQ is just great !!!! We feel that pm3 ask a lot of power with just 32ohm... bass is deep and controled. Médium and treble very good... Tomorrow give your first impression

I really enjoy my se100 quite a bit. I also have shure 535 bronze with silver dragon single ended. Love it. I think shure and astell work really well together. Congrats
