Astell&Kern SA700 - Past meets Present

What I read elsewhere is that the SA700 is natural sounding. Is that true?

the SA700 is the most warm sounding DAP i’ve heard from Astell&Kern untill now, warm and never dark, it’s like a better and refined AK120II.

Reinitalise a new media scan manually and it will be corrected.

The library thumbnails are most likely in the system files of the player and is independant of that saved in the album folders.

Thank you for your help but how do I force that manually? Edit: found it in the system reset menu :). Again, thanks.

Hi Jason,

There have been some posts in other threads recently about how difficult it is to get in touch with the US distributor for service work. I know the distribution changed with the announcement of the SE200, but my only concern about buying another AK dap is this issue. Any thoughts?
There were some issues with support outside of the US, but nothing in the US. The few people I spoke to never tried to contact US support directly. We are all the same team that has been with AK for the last 8+ years and IRIVER may years before that and our US offices are still in the same location in Irvine. Due to mandatory office closures still in effect for California due to COVID-19, most of our staff is working from home and there may be a slight delay in response, but still same day. For phone support, you will need to leave a message and a customer support rep will call back within 2 hours.

US support contact info can be found here - https://us.astellnkern.com/pages/contact-us

@JasonNYC is it normal for the battery of the SA700 to self discharge if it has not been used for say a week or two? It drops to around 80% or so. I noticed this behaviour since the beginning. If this is not normal, I will definitely want to have it checked before the warranty expires.
My other AK players like SP2000, SP1000m battery remains at 100% when I turn them a few weeks later after a charge.

Same thing happens to my unit (Astell SA700).
Curious for an answer.

Waiting for feedback from our dev team on whether this is a known issue and if it is, will it be fixed in the upcoming firmware update. It is the weekend in Korea now, I will ping them again Monday morning Korea time.

Hi All,
I have few questions about SA700 and Amazon music app.
I have subscribed to Amazon music HD and SA700 plays only up to 24bit/48KHz. SA700 should be able to play ultra HD 24bit/96KHz?
Also the LED ring is always blue. This LED topic has been addressed in the past in this thread but it seems not answered.

Your device also does the same?

It's a bug in the Amazon Music app that they have not fixed yet and has been documented in a number of the other AK and other DAP manufacturer threads. Basically Amazon Music will only recognize the bit rate that was last played by a song in internal memory. If you play a 24/192 track that is stored in internal memory, then open Amazon Music, it will show the device as able to support up to 24/192 and will back back up to that resolution.

The LED remains blue when using apps. no matter what bit rate you are playing back. It will only display the bit rate of any tracks stored and played from internal or external memory or played via the embedded Tidal app.

Hi, Jason,

I know I have already reported Amazon Music HD always show LED in blue what ever bit rate you play, but Apple Music always shows LED in red as it should.
JFYI.
