Amen. Sadly, people get offensive because they have to somehow justify their purchase. I keep telling people there's not much difference between $300 vs $3000 DAP. At least no where near near the difference of that extra ZERO.
I sort of agree up to the point of what value you place on the extra 2,700. I think ok thats fine for an improvement. Others may think of alternative uses for the money. Value perception depends on a number of things not least on how much disposable income you have and other demands.

it seems that so far no serious full-length review of the SP2000 has been published, right @JasonNYC ? I find that strange given the time it's been officially available for sale...

I think we're waiting with great anticipation for @twister6's review. Personally, I'm really hoping for an in depth comparison with the iBasso DX220 w/ amp8,9 modules.

That was sort of the point I was making.
I upgraded but I am lucky I have the means to indulge my hobbies. However even I see it is a lot of money for a relatively small improvement.
As I say it is the individuals choice.
On top of that I bet you already been looking for another dap.

I can't speak for other countries as each country handles reviews differently, but here in the US, with the delayed release schedule, we didn't have units until right before they went on sale. We have a very limited of units available for review and they are all currently out. Most US reviewers take a few weeks if not longer and it also depends on what they may currently have backlogged for reviews once they receive units. Reviews should start coming in soon.

the official spec sheet has been updated to now say "MQA playback: ..., external USB, ...". I interpret this (somewhat speculatively) to mean that it now does full MQA decoding/unfolding when used as an USB DAC, just like it does when playing Tidal Masters. This would be an improvement compared to what i've heard in the past. Can someone confirm this interpretation?

The Open APP Service enables the user to install specific APK music streaming apps to the device

I have a question. does the device limited to ONLY music APK apps, or I can install any app through APK? can I install jefit for example?

Just heard the SP2000 yesterday and it sound great!. I was very impressed but my use-case is mainly sitting with laptop at work and listening to Tidal / Spotify so would love to hear if a table top amp & dac such as Sony ZH1ES, Hugo TT2 or such will do a better job to my Denon D9200 headphones.

I bet I can guess the answer, but does the sp2000 offer system wide EQ which would extend to Tidal and Qobuz local files? I’m still straddling the fence between this DAP and a lower cost option since it’s a pretty big number to digest for someone that primarily uses desktop rigs, but the ability to listen to Tidal and Qobuz with my favorite iem’s which do require a little eq would make it an easy answer.
