I can also confirm this since last update.

I didn't turn mine off last night, I usually do, and it was off this morning. I also tested this morning and mine auto shut-down and I am on the new firmware. My settings are auto power off 30 minutes, screen timeout 1 minute. Worked fine just now as well.

@JasonNYC, auto-off timer doesn’t seem to work anymore. You have to remember to manually shut down to avoid battery drain. Is this a known issue?

Thanks!
If Roon Ready is turned on in the settings and you have a Roon Core on your network, the player will not auto turn off as Roon Core broadcasts over the network at a regular interval to check for Roon Ready devices. The player is receiving info from Roon, therefore will not turn off automatically. If you turn off Roon Ready in the settings, the player should turn off correctly.

Thanks for the clarification. Are you saying that Roon's "device find" signals keep it awake or that the timer is just flat out disabled when the Roon setting is on so Roon can always find it? The difference here would mean that if the auto-off timer always worked regardless of Roon signals, people could still achieve what you are saying by setting the auto-off timer to "Always On" or they could have the DAP obey the timer and shut off if no audio is being played.

I thought my Mojo/Poly and Hugo 2/2go shutoff if no audio signal was received after a time, but I'll have to test them again.

Roon signal keeps it awake. Once the player receives the signal, it resets the auto-off clock as it registers as being actively used. I do not know the interval that Roon checks in, it is possible if auto-off is set below the Roon check in interval that it will auto power off. I will confirm.

Chord products are Roon Tested, not Roon Ready, therefore do not contain RAAT code and do not regularly check in with Roon Core. The device the Chord product is plugged into would be doing the communicating with Roon. If it is not actively playing, there would be no signal passed to the Chord, therefore it would shut off after the pre-set time.

Press the home button to return to the playback screen. The home button is in the middle of the black area just under the screen.

The Poly and 2go are Roon Ready, but perhaps that disables the auto-off on the devices?

Anyway, just trying to conserve battery as best I can. I understand if this is part of Roon certification, though. Just seems like for a device with a limited battery that there'd be a compromise, or even a distinction between the device being plugged in or running on battery.

Thanks for the answers!

I did not realize the Poly and 2go are Roon Ready. I am not sure about the auto-off on those devices. I would assume it also does not work. It could also be a Android thing for AK as the AK players are the first Android OS-based devices to be Roon Ready certified.

The majority of Roon Ready devices are fixed components and are always plugged in. Other the AK players and the Polly and 2go, I do not think there are any other battery operated Roon Ready devices. Obviously, if the device is always plugged in, it does not matter if Roon is always checking in and keeping the device from powering off. It will be interesting to see if more battery operated devices become Roon Ready if there will be some sort of power management implemented.

According to Chord, you need to toggle Roon Ready on/off on the Poly like you do on the AK players, so I assume that if Roon is enabled, they also do not auto power-off. I do not own either, maybe someone who has one can confirm that is the case.

After about 40 minutes they hadn't turned off, so I will say that is a no.

Did you find out what the Roon check-in interval is? I do notice devices being detected pretty quickly when they are turned on, but not sure if that is Roon or the device.

I have a dumb question. I want to be able to use Tidal on my PC to stream to my SP2000 (easier to use Tidal on my PC than typing songs names etc. into the SP2000). I know Roon can do it, but is there another way to do it that's free? & I also know I could plug the SP2000 into my computer and use it as a DAC, just wondering if there was an alternative to Roon for wireless streaming.

I'm a new Roon user and will soon own a SP2000. Here's my plan workflow for discovering and listening to music at home and on the go with the new DAP:
  • I'll generally use the SP2000 as a Roon endpoint and control it from my phone via the Roon Remote app. Sometimes I'll have the SP2000 in a my pocket and will be walking around the house. Sometimes I'll have the SP2000 as transport and DAC with a Cayin C9 while I listen to music on a sofa or bed.
  • When I'm on the go, I use Tidal from either my phone with the iFi xCan with mobile data or my SP2000 with my downloaded "Backlog" playlist or favourite albums for offline access.
  • I'll continue to use my desktop setup (TT2 + M-Scaler) with the Roon desktop app on my PC or laptop when I'm in my home office. Sometimes, I might plug the Cayin C9 to my TT2 for some tube goodness.
  • One of the things that I'm really enjoying in Roon is the ability to discover new artists. Whenever I discover an album that looks interesting, I add it to my "Backlog" playlist in Roon for later. It kinda sucks that I also need to add the same album to a Tidal playlist so that I can download it in the SP2000 for offline listening or if I want to listen to it from my phone later on the go.
What's your workflow? I'm especially curious to hear tips on how to handle the last point more effectively when it comes to SP2000 offline listening. Thoughts?

If you just add the interesting album to your library, instead of adding it to a playlist, I will also be added in Tidal favorites. You can tag the album in Roon, e.g. 'backlog', 'check out later', etc. Once you listen to the album and decide you want to ditch it, you just delete the album in Roon. It will disappear in your Tidal favorites too. (If you downloaded it to the SP2000, I think you'll have to delete it from offline music manually.)
