regarding the SP3000, Usually AK announces the new flagship SP/ at the High End show in Munich which was rescheduled for September. With that being said, nothing is normal since the pandemic. So, its possible that we will see a launch by end of summer, imho going from memory.

I been looking at things around and I dont think there be any new sp3k because the akm factory has been damaged and their is no new akm dac! So looking at history akm releases every 3 years a new dac lately and prior to that it was in 2007 then 2014 then 2016 and 4499 in 2019 and we are in 2021. So this leads me to believe either A&K will go with Ess sabre or wait for akm to get their stuff fixed...
I think if we go akm rout there will be no new dac till late 2022.
So hypes to the pockets and more time to enjoy my newly purchased Sp2000 Cu

From what I have been told we are a good year out....their TOTL's do appear to be on a three year cycle, they do however fill in with models that are under TOTL in hierarchy, but if September is an announcement, that might make sense.

I kind of hope that there is no new model this year. I just bought a gold Sp2k and would hate to see it superceded so soon

Dude...just because there is a newer model doesn't mean yours still doesn't have TOTL performance. So many times we mentally cripple our devices when a newer one is released.

And also so much synergy wise not always the new model is the best too. Need to be carefull and never rush we are in ToTL realm here so new model wille is better not mean you need to liquidate and rush it.

I agree. Not to mention that newer isn't always better. I generally stick to buying more recently launched products as I find it pretty fun watching a product grow and evolve.

I am not nearly stupid enough to consider selling such a fantastic DAP just to get the latest and greatest.

Gotcha! Just want to be sure people are not confusing it with Platinum and Palladium versions of SP2000

I myself prefer the Unobtainium SP2000, the metal gives it a sexier sound.....
