Me also as well as the Odyssey. My SP1000 is getting a little long in the tooth. As a big EE fan that was inevitable.

The SP1K is a great DAP. I look forward to the 4.4mm jack and especially the 768k sample rate. I am a big fan of PGGB files and have the best albums from my library converted to 768k (16fs) and stored on a couple 1tb sdcards. The 2tb compatibility will be nice when available. I bought a Kann Alpha to power headphones but to be honest IEMs seem the logical choice for portable audio. imho. The new dac implementation intrigues me as well. Now the wait.

With the advent of the separation of DSP to the delta sigma DAC chip, I'm pretty sure this opens up an opportunity for A&K to develop their own custom digital filter via FPGA then the final output will be converted by the 4499EX or whatever flagship AKM will have in their next iteration. IMHO, AK Flagship DAP's SQ will start stagnating unless A&K starts this custom FPGA signal processing like Chord DACs

On that last one technically you could root to gain admin permission and sideload the apps if you so want. It's running Android albeit a heavily customized version of it.

I wouldn't recommend it because doing that may disrupt some functions of the DAP.

You can't install UAPP, Neutron etc on AK DAPs can you?

SP1000 and SP2k is ok with Neutron but SP3k won't.

A&K and Cayin are similar in a sense that rooting will “void warranty and all related services”
