I doubt you get them that early as the official release is the 15th. But who knows, maybe you'll get lucky. Some stores in my country do claim to have stock with next day delivery, but I'm skeptical. Want have read some reviews and/or hear them first before making the decision to get them or not anyway. So I'll wait the 2 weeks for the official release.

That said, if you do get it early, the store you bought it from probably won't be selling Astell&Kern for much longer (or they'll have stocking issues for years to come). Brands don't like new products getting out early to consumers and there usually are big consequences for those sellers who do release early.

The store I bought my unit from is a long lasting and important audio store, which sells AK devices since day 1. It’s an official AK reseller.

I regularly buy from them and their reputation is intact.

The seller I talked to confirmed that they got the authorization to sell the player.

Long lasting, important and reputation don't mean much if they didn't have permission from the brand, even if they are a official reseller as there are many other official resellers like them out there. As long as the brand bigger is than the store and/or has other options, the store will always lose. But if they have a good rep and have been around for a while, the punishment can be less severe if they go against a brands policy.

But seeing as they've been good and have done their due diligence to get the permission to sell them early, you're in luck.

This was not an attack on you or the store btw. Just stuff I've learned from my current job as a product designer and earlier retail jobs during uni. I've seen both sides of the coin and it can be an ugly world.

We usually build an extra week into the release date in US/Canada to allow time to receive the product from Korea, log into our warehouse and ship to dealers around North America. Most regions will allow dealers to sell as soon as they receive product and not hold sale date until all the retailers in the region have stock. Enforcing a sale date also ensures all customers are eligible to purchase at the same time and no one has an unfair advantage because their local dealer did not receive their stock yet.

Also, since the start of COVID, US customs clearance times have increased significantly for items coming in from Asia, anywhere from an extra 3 - 10 days at times, so we sometimes receive our shipments much later than the UK, EU or Asia.

I'm confused now (which is easily done)... Is May 15th a hard release date for US? The US A&K site says estimated... I assumed that once dealers had stock, they would ship.

Still on track for a May 15th release date. We say estimated in case customs takes the full 10 days to ship. They are expected to arrive in our CA warehouse by the end of the week and then released to dealers

Wait, so there is a good chance that the SR35 is already available for sale here in the EU with the stores that have stock.
I assumed that the EU launch date would be the same as the US date.

I guess I need to contact some stores to get a demo appointment.

Hmmmm Boxy? Or box-like? Or something completely different? I like their designs, which are more artistic than the others, more modern art with 'obtuse' angles, I believe, so still geometric, just not boxy. Like so many others and I own quite a few of them. Heard the SR25 and the SE180. The SR25 was okay, though I really liked the SE180, it was very good sounding.

I received mine yesterday... Although I don't have the previous model to compare against, I can say it sounds fantastic to me. UI is not as snappy as Fiio's, but its sufficient for me. I'll get the case as soon as its on stock, this thing is pointy as hell...

Can I use it in the same way like on my iPhone 13, for example can I download my Apple Music playlists with hi-res songs to the SR35 in order to hear them when I have no wifi connection? Another question, when doing some individual equalizer settings, do these affect to Apple Music?

Technically speaking not out of the box... But it does once you sideload the Spotify apk via the Astell&Kern Open Service... (just like Qobuz etc)

Yes to both (as long as A&K didn’t change anything drastically compared to older A&Ks like the SE200 or SP3000, which is highly unlikely)
