I have some 60-day trial codes for Roon if anyone is interested in trying it out. The standard demo period if you sign up from Roon is 30 days. Unfortunately I cannot walk anyone through on how to install Roon Core and get it up and running on their network, but it is pretty easy if you want to install on a Windows or Mac computer to test. Please PM me if you would like a trial code. They are unique codes, so I will have to send individually to anyone that is interested.

I forgot to mention, Roon trial codes are valid worldwide.

Ive Updated my Alpha, it shows in the settings as Roon Ready, but that's as far as I get.
How do I get it to work? Please?
If I go into Roon on my Laptop, it doesn't see the Alpha. I have Roon running on a NUC, with Roon Rock. It works fine with my Bluesound Node 2i, and with my iPad, iPhone etc.
I've been waiting forever for Roon for my Kann Alpha, and now I can't get it to work.
Any help/instructions gratefully received. Thank you.

Go in to settings on the player and turn off Roon Ready, then turn it back on. Then in Roon, go to settings -> audio and enable KANN ALPHA.

Done that, and it appears briefly, then just disappears. Should I have the Roon app on the Alpha? I haven't loaded it on there, because I thought the update made it Roon ready?
If so, Which is the latest version for the APK?

No, the Roon app is not needed on the player itself as the Roon RAAT code is built into the player firmware to make it Roon Ready. Are you experiencing any other issues with any of the streaming services on the player?

Yes, just checked. Roon is running on an Intel Nuc, and works fine with anything else. I use Qobuz on the Kann Alpha without any issue at all.
I don't understand why it appeared, then it simply disappeared. I turned off the Roon ready, then turned it on, and the Alpha appreared in the Roon Ready section. I selected it as the Audio zone, and all evidence of the Alpha simply disappears.

Just as I thought another useless update! Tidal song skipping issue NOT FIXED!

Have a feeling the WiFi hardware inside KA is really old gen! and not compatible with all home router, so the firmware updates can't do damn to fix it!!

Now I'm happy to say that I'm gonna sell this Trash Player! If any anyone looking to buy and from UK pls PM ME.

Once bought the Alpha I couldn't get into tidal. installed a third-party tidal and there are no problems with music playback. I listen to tidal as much as I want. wifi does not cut off, the router is a dual-band TP-link, distribute it from the smartphone perfectly.

That's a major issue, due probably from an obsolete Wifi hardware "you can't be connected seriously directly to a complex wifi router" ... if you add to this, the limitations a terribly poor AKConnect program ... you just have hope to sell your Kann Alpha asap and never come back in A&K world...

In my case, I just wait for a M17 to be announced by FIIO (I have a far better experience of FIIO support with the M11) and I will sell my Kann Alpha with the CD Recorder for a few hundred bucks to anyone who doesn't care about streaming.

Streaming is great. I have no problem with this . I am only concerned about the self-discharge battery in standby mode.

I guess I won't be getting the KA. Its been a long wait for a roon ready device but as it stands the streaming with roon on the KA seems half baked. If I have to use roon on a smartphone to control the AK I might as well just use my chord h2go. Too bad....I really wanted a dap solution for roon. Maybe if a&k comes up with a fully fledged device that has roon app natively I'll consider it.

Ok, here’s an update. Tried it this morning, and it works just fine !
I open Roon on my iPad, select the Alpha, and it sprung to life.
Genuinely don’t know what’s different this morning, from last night, unless it heard me threatening to throw the Alpha against a wall.
Playing DSD files too.
it’s a shame I have to use the iPad to control it though, apart from pause, skip, etc.
I was hoping to be able to run Roon properly on the Alpha, but that’s not happening.

If you’re having wifi drop out issues with a newer type of router, try turning off some of the beamforming settings on your router. The Kann Alpha obviously doesn’t support 5ghz so I split my signal back to 2.4ghz and 5ghz and I just keep alpha on the 2.4ghz signal. Hasn’t dropped out at all.

Just intalled the update for my Alpha.
At first, the Kann was not showing up on Roon, I had to turn off the "roon ready" option and then turn it back on.
Now it all works with no issues
