Astell & Kern Kann MAX

@JasonNYC

Hi Jason,

Having a problem with my Kann Max. Am unable to install the latest version of the Spotify app, it says unable to parse the package/ parsing error. And same with installing Roon ARC - actually started when I tried Roon first. But other app upates work fine I think so.

I have tried soft resetting (holding power button down to switch off); have deleted the downloaded spotify and roon arc apps from downloads after connecting to a computer, so that can redownload the apps. But both these have not worked.

Please help.

I would like to avoid resetting the DAP as that will result in me losing the downloaded music in apps like apple and tidal.

regards,
Anand

Hi @anandgiridhar

There is a bug in the Roon Arc app. In order to update it, you will need to delete the currently installed app and install the new version. Unfortunately that will erase any downloaded content and settings for the Roon Arc app. This will not affect any other app. To delete the app, you will need to click on the icon next to the Roon Arc app and select delete from the menu. Roon is aware of the issue we are experiencing and is working on a fix.

I believe there is also an issue with the Spotify app and we are expecting an updated version to be added to the download tab sometime in the next week.

@JasonNYC Many thanks for your reply.

Actually the roon and spotify app are not getting installed itself - error parsing package - so don't see an option to delete the downloaded but not installed app on the device.

What I am trying is therefore to delete the non installing downloaded app by connecting it to my mac and deleting the file using android file transfer.

Then I download again on the device. I will wait for room to be corrected. But I just got the spotify update and that app also seems to have a problem getting installed.

I will keep trying as above and as per your guidance. Please let me know if anything to change in what I have written above or if there is any other update or guidance.

Many thanks!

I am sorry, it is my mistake for the Roon Arc app. Roon Arc is currently not supported on KANN MAX. The last server app updates rolled out to all devices, including players that are not currently supported like the KANN MAX. In the past, non-supported apps would not appear on players that currently do not have support for them. You are receiving the error message because Roon Arc is not currently whitelisted for KANN Max. We have slowly been rolling out support to older players as we test. I will update if/when Roon Arc support is added to KANN Max.

Many thanks for your check and reply!

Sure, understood, do let us know when there is an update.

Also do pass on the feedback on the latest tidal app as well, that also is not getting downloaded properly.

Many thanks!

I’ve got an 18 month old Kann Max and I largely listen on the Tidal app and to music downloaded to a 0.5tb memory card. I updated the operating system recently and since then the unit has been incredibly slow and Tidal fails regularly. It can take me 15 minutes to finally have a track playing. I did a full factory reset and started again, but the same result. Any ideas? The sound is great but it’s such a pain to use that it gets left home a lot.

What Tidal app version are you using? Is it the one from the download section of the services tab?
