Astell & Kern KANN - DAP with Massive Storage & Battery

I just received the 400gb microSD card and I loaded it with 17,000+ tracks. After inserting the new card into KANN, I've had the "Scanning Media..." notification for more than 24 hours.

Does anybody know how long media scanning should take?

That's really excessive, It took less than 5 minutes for 256 GB of FLAC files on a SanDisk Micro SD Card.

Try doing a manual media scan. Settings, default settings, initialize media scan. If you have playlists created on the player, make sure clear playlists is unchecked.

Our team is currently testing the 400GB cards. I will pass your issues on to the team.

So am I too assume that a micro 400GB card work without an update to the KANN?Or should I wait until all the bugs get worked out?Or will there be an update?

I want to get one of those cards but not if it's going to be buggy in the KANN.

We have been testing the 400GB cards without issue the past few weeks here in our US offices. Our HQ development team is also testing them. Once they complete testing we will announce official support for the 400GB cards.

Thanks JasonNYC.

All 3 options on the "default settings" screen are greyed out. Is there another way to initialize media scan?

Thank you for the prompt reply and for the clarification.I shall wait for the official announcement before I purchase the micro 400GB card.

Hey @JasonNYC - wanted to report a frustrating issue I've had for a few weeks now.

I have been using a 256 Sandisk micro SD and a Sandisk 512 card. Both are formatted in the KANN as per your suggestions. I load everything up, the player works great for ~1 week without any issues (aside from the weird song shuffle issue I mentioned before), and then problems start to creep up. This is almost always after 1 or 2 weeks of regular use. Was hoping not to have this issue again, but here we are:

I use Beyond Compare to make sure all the files on the cards are backed up to my machine, and I've been noticing that there are missing files on my cards, and other files that appear to be corrupt (ie, broken file names and errors). When I plug that same card into the KANN, it no longer reads, whereas it boots up instantly in the past. This just happened again on the Micro SD card, which means I will need to reformat it and reload it. I have had this happen on the SD card too, which was brand new as of a few weeks ago.

With that in mind, it appears that the KANN is corrupting my cards occasionally. I never eject them with the machine turned on, always do a proper power down before putting them in my computer.

Can you shed any light on why this happens? While it isn't the END of the world to keep reformatting and reloading the cards, it's obviously frustrating.

You may be right but I don’t just to be safe.

As of last nights report, now the main SD card is having issues. Songs keep randomly restarting...

I’m going to try the Mac terminal script someone else posted a few weeks ago to reformat to FAT32 and reload, as it appears problems pop up every few weeks when cards are formatted in the KANN.

I resolved my missing files by deleting all the files on both my cards while they were in the KANN.

It will surely take long to scan. Just image a small device with big storage working hard to index and scan a large capacity of songs which is obvious that it would take longer to scan for the first time.
But 24hours is very long which should not happen in my opinion. I suggest follow what Jason has posted
