Astell & Kern KANN - DAP with Massive Storage & Battery

I've used the Miter case with the Kann for 3 hour long stretches playing solely DSD and at least 24/96 quality files and heat hasn't become an issue for me. You can feel the player being warm through the case but I don't think it gets too hot.
Thanks for the feedback. Do you feel it substantially protects the device ( I see it doesnt cover the sd cards) ?

It works great for my needs, but admittedly I don't put it through a lot of abuse. It really just goes from my home office desk to a work office desk and in between I have it in an additional case to keep it separated from the rest of my bag. I'd feel wary of just throwing it in a backpack or briefcase loose, but I am the type of person where scratches would bother me.

Thanks! I think I'll get one for the times when it needs to share space in a bag with a smartphone. The ribbed alu casing could be deadly to a phone screen. I hardly think the Kann itself would be in any danger!

Have a Cavalli Liquid Carbon that I love. (Just bought the balanced cables for my HD800's and it sounds really great balanced). I also have an Astell & Kern KANN I recently purchased (This hobby is expensive!) Is there any way I can hook up the KANN with the Liquid Carbon? (Been using a Mojo with a QP1R with the LC until now.) Thanks.

You need to either buy or build a 2.5mm balanced to dual 3 pin XLR cable, then connect it to the balanced line out on the Kann and the XLR inputs on the cavalli

Audiophile defined:
"Of course, that hasn’t stopped me from continuing to drop mad monies on fancier players, like the Opus#2. But I’m not well in the head."

Great review as always! Confirms for me that Astell&Kern offers the sort of sound I like. Just wish they had Sony-like battery life.
How much bigger did you need?
  1. Long battery life: 6,200mAh 3.7V Li-Polymer Battery (up to 15 hours)

The one thing I have always loved about my little bitty A15 is that it just keeps going and going. My AK70 (10 hours) on the other hand can at times barely last the day. So Sony's 30 hours would be very welcome for me.

So it happened. Couldn't wait anymore and now the Kann is on my desk being loaded up. I notice that there doesnt seem to be an onscreen button for play/pause but just the physical buttons for these functions. Am I missing something?
You are correct. There is no on-screen button for play/pause, just the physical buttons on the front of the unit. Our development team is looking into adding on-screen play/pause in a future firmware update, but there is no ETA on implementation.

That would be really great.

There is also maybe wrong translation about microSD card when inserted. I get notification microSD card safely removed.

lol. That's been a point of confusion for ages, as far back as my AK120II, even.
