Astell & Kern KANN - DAP with Massive Storage & Battery

Hi Jason, I'd like to know if, besides the AK RM01, there are other bluetooth remote control for my KANN. The RM01 is for being at desktop or at home, but I often go out with it and I'd like one device that I won't feel so sad if I break it (probably).
Thanks in advance :)
Best
Any Bluetooth remote should work, but I can't say for sure without testing. I have seen on other threads people using generic Bluetooth remotes for both older gen and newer gen AK players without issue.

I still use my old IRIVER IAA01 remote all the time - https://www.amazon.com/Astell-IAA01...etooth+remote&qid=1567092160&s=gateway&sr=8-5

Thank you very much for your answer. By the way I read one of your posts some pages ago that KANN is going to support 2TB cards, did you mean the SD or the MicroSD one? and the support will be added with a firmware update or is already compatible?

Technically any AK player from the 1st gen AK100 through the SP2000 should support up to 2TB cards as that is the largest capacity under the current standard. As long as a manufacturer produced them to the current SD Association standard, it should work without issue when formatted with the FAT32 file system (which also supports storage devices up to 2TB). We currently only officially support up to 512GB microSD and full sized SD cards for the KANN at this time, but there have been a number of customers who are using 1TB cards without issue. Due to the large capacity, any card over 512GB may take extra time to scan and index once inserted.

Good, so it means that I can use 512gb microSD and 512gb SD card (for total 1TB space for music) and being supported by AK, but I can try also using a 1TB card (micro or SD) but in this case there could be some problems (but you know customers that already uses that cards with no issues) with scan time for these cards.

Thanks for your answer

Thank you
I do recommend trying a soft reset and seeing if that fixes the issue. I had recommended it earlier, I'm not sure if you've tried that already. To perform a soft reset, while the player is turned on, press and hold the power button for 10 - 15 seconds until the player shuts down. Press the power button again to restart the player.

Firmware upgrade that’s never going to happen anyway
@JasonNYC
Any update on my problem with playlist loading ?

I've found that having the Kann rescan the library fixes that problem. Now, whenever I add new music to my player, I rescan when I'm finished.

Since doing that, I haven't had the problem with playlists loading, when previously I could wait more than 15 minutes before being able to access a playlist.

You can use a 1T micro sd card and/or a 1T sd card without any issues, all things being equal, which means that if your KANN is exactly the same as mine(equal) then those size cards will work.

I now use the 1T micro card in my Cube.

So as it stands right now you can have 2T of card storage.

This is great because in this way I don't need anymore to divide my collection in more SD cards but I can use 2TB from my SD cards. Regarding the read speed, for the FLAC or DSD file which would be the proper speed? I have a microSD of 170mb/s but is kind of expensive...

@Luke- I believe you said you tried this already, which I why I didn't suggest it, but if you haven't, I recommend you try this also. To do a manual media scan - Settings -> Default settings -> Initialize media scan. Make sure the Clear playlists box is NOT checked. Click ok. Player will scan and reindex all files. It can take up to 15 minutes depending on how many files you have in memory - both internal and external. Usually takes about 5 min or so.

anyone here good at korean and android development?

i figured out how to get to the secret menu, screen shots of which were posted on here, and i also figured out that there is a tab for package loading to which it's looking for something on the sdcard. there's also another menu which i enabled which makes no sense because it's translated as "stradium" but it's the opposite of "normal mode" which it tells you to put the kann if it's for production. i now have a PRO icon glowing on my KANN which makes me think i'm in some developer mode.

when i get home tonight i want to mess around with adb and see if i can push packages onto the kann, but i'm an iphone user for years and don't know my way around android.

i figured at this point there's absolutely no more support form AK for the KANN, i'm out of warranty, the resale on this thing is worthless i may as well tinker with it and see if i can bring some features to it myself.
