Don't you know that your fingers are connected to your ears.
When you adjust the old skull analogue volume dial your ears will hear a more lush analogue sound.
Wont have the same effect if adjusting volume by the touchscreen though

every Digital Audio Player (DAP) has a Digital to Analog Coverter (DAC) so all the sound you hear is analog.volume wheel has nothing to do with it

No AK player has ever had an analog volume control, it is digital dac controlled volume, the wheel is just a physical control for the digital volume.

I don't know about it being pointless. You'd have no other way to control the volume without it.

Yes hifiman uses analog volume wheels. But you should also remember that there are daps that use analog volume chips, like fiio x5ii, cayin n6, qls qa360 and others, all these daps use texas instruments PGA2311 analog volume chip, which is better than most analog volume wheels, because the chip has no channel imbalance and other favorable traits.
