Thanks.

Any recommendation on a particular aftermarket battery? If you remember which one you bought?

380 battery need to unscrew few screws? What do you mean?

Is the battery held down with screws?

This battery look very inflated. Be careful when removing. So not break it with any. Sharp metal objects.

Use plastic to remove battery from the player. It is glued down. So do it slowly.

Anyone know if the battery in the AK380 amp is the same battery that is in the AK380 DAP itself? Can’t seem to kick this thing to the curb…it’s a great backup system, but need it to last more than 5 hours! Both batteries need a refresh.

Hoping someone recently had run into this symptom. Searching this massive thread shows 1 (or maybe 2) people have hit this issue.

Anyone had and fixed/addressed volume issue when playing back DSD source?

non-DSD, the volume control works, no issue.

But "out of the blue" the DSD contents will not track volume changes.

If through AK380 AMP attached, DSD playback through AMP jack plays DSD sources with volume tracking, no issue.

But only when playing from AK380, DSD is just fixed at a whatever volume that was before this issue start showing up.

Can't change volume at all on DSD contents.

Anyone run into this?

I've restarted AK380, tried several other things but nothing.

Thanks!

Hi guys, I've been offered a AK380cu + 2 cases + AK balanced cable. The seller says the item is in good condition with battery lasting around 6h. Price is U$800.
It seems steep for a 9 year old device. I've been using my smartphone with a dongle, but would love to migrate to a high quality dap. I would use it mainly to play my collection of FLACs. For Tidal, I would be fine using the AK380 as a DAC connected to my phone or Mac.
Is the AK380cu sound quality differentiated enough to make it still worth it in 2024? Or should I look getting a brand new SR35 instead? It is VERY difficult to source good DAPs of any brands in my country... No specialized stores nor distributors present here...
