I have copies of Jazz at the Pawnshop, 24/192 LP ripped from a very good TT, Arm and Cartridge, in DXD and DSD128.

It is very close sonically and quality wise...........

If I remember and on my return next week, I will share a song for a day in all 3 formats, so folks can compare and decide for themselves....

Probably so, as I have DSD files that click loudly between songs.....

But never knew that one had to double convert...interesting, will pass on to my friends.

question the AK380 copper owners: do any of you experience light bleed issues with the lcd displays?

Me neither.  No issue with my Cu so far.

Mmm....no light bleed in my cu lcd display.

Re: Cu amp. I preordered. After going mental for the past few weeks (should I, no, yes, maybe, absolutely yes, go for it, no restrain yourself, restrain yourself not.....) I said Phuket. Life is too short.

True, and I might join you later as I ordered the K10 Rose Gold, so the Cu amp has to wait a little bit.

  I've just seen this:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B015OSNCOS?psc=1

that price!! wow...

Too bad AK won't honor warranty at that price.  However, I do have experience with RMA with ProStudio Sound and Music for my iBasso DX90, and their service is decent.

The sound quality of AK380 Cu vs AK380 Black - that is the question.

Indeed, because black absorps waves, be it light or sound waves. If the casing is black on the outside, it will block all sorts of noise and waves effectively (be it from PCs, mobile phones etc). If it is black on the inside too, internal noises will be absorped which will result in a much less messy sound and wider sound stage with better placement. A grey or white internal housing results in continuing reclections of the internal waves of the AK, resulting in a less precise instrument separation.

I think AK missed an opportunity here, as they should have made the black version with dry carbon instead of just a coating.  I know this might entail a hefty R&D, but I think is worth it.

with all respect even if the housing was made of platinum i would not pay extra one dime over the orginal ak380 price

Remember to remove the case

Yes, remember to remove the case as well.
