I wonder how can aswell & kern improve on the 380

- higher internal capacity
- 2 microSD slots ( or 1 full size SD)
- TIDAL streaming
- MQA compatible ( like onko & Pioneer already is)
- OLED screen ( usable under sunny conditions)
- good balanced AMP ( at last !)
- ROON (endpoint, or even server ?)
- USB OTG (possibility to add an external USB drive)
- Real fixed 2volts line out
- USB digital out (at least on the docking station)
-.....

So, I have to agree that beside the internal AMP which need some work, most of the possible improvements are rather usability features.... But they are many

mmm.....iTunes or Apple Music does not offer lossless streaming. Not unless I'm misinformed, it is still 320 kbps or something. The only lossless streaming service in commercial operation is still Tidal.com. So, if near CD quality streaming service is what you are looking for, Tidal is the only game in music town. Tidal is an indispensable part of my music library.

A have the AK240 and will get an AK380 (duralium) soon for a very reasonable price. I will need an amp, so I ask myself which one to buy...

I heard that the sound difference between the normal AK380 amp and copper amp is bigger than that between AK380 and AK380 copper itself. Can anybody confirm this? Does it make sense soundwise to go for the copper amp instead of the normal duralium amp? The different colour does not matter to me, my question is just regarding the sound quality.

Thanks in advance,
Bernie (xxx1313)

I have had the weekend to really listen to an AK380 black and the black Amp and It truly sounds great, however I have owned an RWAK for a couple years and if you put a blindfold on my and asked me to pick out which is which, I doubt I could. I listened with my Roxanne, modded D2000 and a little with my LCD-4(neither could drive them). I'm not sure what kind of price you are getting, but maybe consider getting the RWAK Mod and save yourself some money?

The 380Cu is going to stand for a while even once the AK480 comes out - the stock AK380 only had a marginal improvement over AK240, but the AK380Cu is just night and day against both AK380 and AK240. AK480 really needs to up its game considerably to be even on a level fighting ground with the AK380Cu. It is that good.
