mmm...........double stack makes sense to me. It is all about options: ak380 = iems, ak380 + chord hugo = headphones. You are effectively doubling your arsenal to drive anything from the most sensitive iems or ciems to the most difficult to drive headphones like the T1, HE6 etc. Having a double or triple stacks makes eminent sense to me.

I do notice a difference hugo/380 and hugo/iPhone or hugo/ zx2. The Hugo/380 is superior .

Man don't corrupt me. I may go and audition one today .

mmm....I'm not done yet. Not by a long shot. After you upgrade to the AK 380 + Chord TT, you add a Mass Kobo 394 to your audio chain. Now I am done...............seriously, this is my inspiration, from member @rudi0504:

And Egghead here has a 394 reserved for me.k

Mmm......the CDM acquits itself quite well against the Chord but what the formers lacks is driving power, specially with full-sized headcans. With IEMs, the difference in SQ is narrower, with the Chord still edging out the CDM slightly. But the CDM aces the Chord Hugo in pure musicality (analog warmth vs. clinical/analytical signature). As usual, YMMV. Me? I love both Chords and the CDM. As a bonus, the Chords and the CDM are really well-designed products.

How are you guys stacking amps to the AK380? It's a major pain for AK240, but that at least is somewhat rectangular.

CDM - won't stacking anything on top of it just bake it with all the heat?
Hugo - velcro?

i wish someone can explain something for me

i own a Hugo Chord, and if i ever wanted to go portable i would go for Fiio X5, and make the Hugo bypass it, so basicly the Fiio will be nothing but a player with good CPU + 2x Memory Slots

then why do i see people spending on AK240/380 just to let the Hugo Chord bypass it in the end?

ofc other than those who wanted something to use with the Hugo as a player to begin with.

i mean the Hugo Chord will by pass it  so

if there is anything i didn't know, please let me know, trying to learn, maybe i missed some stuff about DAC/DAP bypassing.

I can't find a list of frequencies on the AK380 EQ.  Anyone care to list them here?

Thanks !!

as a DAP does the AK380 does the sound better than Hugo Chord alone? i mean at this price ofc i wana know, it costs more than my Hugo Chord alone, which i can paid with Fiio X5 (Hugo bypass the DAC in it)

As subjective a question as could ever hope to be asked!!

All depends on the synergy of what you intend to drive... From a technical standpoint it is very much a one horse race, from an auditory one, beauty is in the ear of the beholder, but for me the nod goes to the Hugo, but differing presentations and technical abilities...

At CanJam today I tested the AK380 alone against my "old" AK100>optical>HUGO, and.... AK100+HUGO still win on SQ.

I also tested the AK add-on Amp, and found that the external AK Amp really do not amplify a lot more.  Very small power difference between the AK380 alone and AK380+Add-on Amp ! (and still much ledd powerfull than the HUGO).   may be the AK-AMP that I tested was defective since it is still not released yet !?
