Roon Arc and improved boot up times! Testing the latter now!!!

Just installed the new firmware and tested the bootup time. I got 32 seconds. The previous firmware was around 50 seconds.

Big one: ARC works much more like Roon on a phone with actual information on the tracks being played.

Not only on what is already contained in my personal library but also streaming. This nearly defeats the purpose of using the native Roon app, other than when using another device to control playback.

Also tried doing a download and playing offline, which worked fine.

Boot time is now around 30 seconds, much better.

edit: Anyway that is a good thing. All AK's seem to boot up slow, but 45-50 seconds is real slow. !8 seconds is a win!

It appears ARC resamples to 48k while Roon Ready gives original rate. I have settings for ARC to original. On IOS, ARC gives original. Android bug?

Getting Roon ARC up and operational on this device is huge and will be another selling point other than how it sounds. I’m happy that A&K has that critical Roon Certification because this will translate to the Roon App working as designed on the device. Well done A&K.

That was fast! Shoutout to Charles at The Heasfoneshop. This thing is awesome. Plays 16FS PGGB files perfectly and scanned the 1tb card quickly. The sound is better than I hoped for. Great synergy with Odin, EVO and LX so far.

...and also horrible policy from Roon, pushing manufacturers and also users to pay certification fees just to have a very simple task. One of the reasons I chose not to pay for Roon (the other being not having a Linux client - under Wine it is not stable).

Why should Roon be different from other companies that charge a certification fee for integration? They’re a business that has a killer product and they should be able to profit from it. That’s my view of it.
