The SE200 has a slick, beautiful design (albeit with some sharp edges) and a forward, engaging presentation off of the AKM chip. While I wasn’t as big a fan of the ESS side, it presents an apt foil to the AKM side, providing good room for synergy if that’s something you find important. I won’t comment on the SE180 too much (you can read the review for more details), but my choice is clear between the two DAPs.

Thanks. I was on the fence on which one to upgrade my se100 to, and the se200 will be it. Just the thickness difference is a big deal.

I've just updated to the new firmware and now I'm having issues connecting the SE200 as a usb DAC? My MacBook initially recognises the device as an Android one on the file transfer app and then doesn't recognise it? I've attempted to reinstall the app and restart the player several time with no luck. Has anyone else had any issues?

@CharlyBrown The latest firmware update, v1.22 fixes the issue with Apple Music 3.5.0 running on the SE200. There should also be no issues with Apple Music 3.6.0, which supports lossless when it is eventually released.

There are known issues with the M1-based Macs and any Android-OS based devices. The dev team is working on a solution for M1-based Macs.

Currently do not have any info on if/when SE200 might receive Roon Ready support.

Ahh apologies, I didn't realise. Thank you, the SE200 is my go-to laptop DAC when away from home so I look forward to getting it back up to full functionality.
