I want to get them but I was just wondering, have any better headphones been made in that price range after three years of it having been out?

compare the ATH-M50 to a number of other closed headphones in roughly the same price bracket. Some of them are newer than the M50. Their conclusion is that the m50 still hold their own.

Bass is appreciated but not a ridiculous amount, the M50 bass range is good I assume.

Yea I'd say about 95% of the people who buy M50's love them. The other 4-5% is people who just want more bass from what I've gathered. They should work well for your needs though.

The M50 is in the midst of  price hike right now, but even for ~$150, I'd still say they are an excellent product for the price!

They actually seem to have gone down in price in england, I'm probably going to get them soon

lol, they actually went down in Canada too... in the retail shops anyway (works out to about the same as previously ordering from the US + shipping). Otherwise, we get gouged the full $200 + tax while they are going for 100-120 in the US D:
