Ok, so I installed ubuntu into windows and reboot per the installer, now what? There is no way to start the program.

You need to install it, and than open the terminal and run it
"mplayer" or "xmms2" or what ever.

I've had it working with xp-pro. Now I use it with vista x64, with no problem. Also using foobar.
At first I had problems with foobar and vista x64, but after I removed all the items in the components folder in foobar and started clean, it works ok.

echo $PATH | grep xmm2

if it returns instances then you can launch xmms2 by alt+f2 in gnome and typing xmm2. otherwise add the location to the PATH variable.

Sorry to interrupt the discussion a bit - But I never heard of any of these things like ASIO and Kernel Streamer before, and I just installed the winamp kernel streamer plugin, forgot to turn down the volume and nearly blew my headphones up lol - The volume is a lot higher, I'm trying to work out if it sounds clearer now too, I actually think its made a difference. I use a D2X too
