Any player with last.fm-support?

I rarely plug in my iPod, only twice since the last update, so my experience is limited. I manually sync because I have a 5.5G 80GB iPod and my library is 120GB. The old version of the plugin didn't scrobble if you manually synced.

It works if you manually sync but not if you manually manage your iPod. I still find it very unreliable. The scrobble list that eventually comes up after 30 minutes or so, usually is several syncs out of date, and also contains tracks played in iTunes and already scrobbled to last.fm. So it is buggy, but it does sort of do something, which it didn't do at all prior to the recent update.

What's the difference between manually sync and manually manage? I select music from my iPod and delete, then select select from my library and drag and drop. The 2 times I've plugged in since I got the last update, the scrobble worked fine. The list popped up about 30 seconds after the iPod showed up in iTunes and the list of music was perfect. It has only been 2 times but I only got the update to the plugin a few weeks ago.

Always check the last.fm forums before updating your software. I've updated a few times only to find that my iPod scrobbling no longer works.

Manually manage is what you are doing - what ever I do, which is push the sync button, but not have it automatically happen when the iPod shows up in iTunes, is what i meant by manual sync.

My scrobbling doesn't work that well at all - it can literally be 20 minutes before the box shows up, and it seems almost random as to what it is choosing to scrobble, with a mixture of tracks played on the ipod over the last few days, and invariably a few itunes played tracks as well that are already scrobbled. Didn't check the forums as it wasn't a big enough concern for me I must admit - maybe I should show some initiative and see what is going on!

iPhone and iPod Touch both have an app that scrobbles the songs you play trough Wi-Fi. What more could you wish for?

I presume Rockbox is still not ready for my Sansa Clip. Is it still just Apple with good out of the box support?

The clip only has 2 megs of ram, so there's work to be done to make rockbox reliable on it.

RB is generally pretty efficient with memory, but 2 megs is really tiny. Most mp3 players have 8 or more, some have 64 megs.

crossfade support will probably be disabled forever on the clip, for example. There just isn't room for that buffer.

I don't particularly have anybody following my last.fm scrobbles so it is just for me

Clip SQ is best out of all my DAP's, but no last.fm. Guess I will keep an eye out in September to see what Apple do

pretty sure the new Sony E series supports scrobbling through Zenses, given that the previous generation did, and they're almost exactly the same player UI-wise. Also, the coding behind Zenses is primarily targeted at making sure the Zune works on it, since Ipods already have a lot of people developing for them. I use it on my Toshiba Gigabeat T400, and it works fine.

Alternatively, if you use a Windows Mobile cellphone for playing music, you can scrobble by using the latest version of Conduit's Pocket Player software (not free). Its main advantage is (aside from being a superior alternative to built in WMP) is that it doesn't require a data connection to scrobble, just a USB connection to your PC.

A jailbroken iPod or iPhone does live scrobbling perfectly with the 3.0 firmware installed. With the 2.x firmware, however, scrobbling is spotty at best.

Last.Fm radio works on the 5800XM and N97. Scrobbling is not currently supported. See here:

This is the only thing that's been holding me back from getting the 5800. I wonder if it'll ever be added. People have been requesting the feature since Dec 08, but the coders need some sort of API from Nokia to be able to add it or something.
