Any love for the Activo CT10?

Hi Phil, light leak at 4 points on the front left side of the unit between the black and white plastic and light leak on the bottom seam front. I don't know who emailed me in response but I think the wrong person answered the email that day at ACTIVO North American Customer Service Center. Whoever emailed me, clearly gave me the wrong information:

"Based on your description and photo references, files that are creating error message are proprietary music files: .m4a and it is not one of the supported file types. These files can either be converted, or we do kindly ask them to be removed. Meanwhile, please do report if .FLAC and .ALAC file types do create similar issues during transfer. "

and whoever followed up on those same emails didn't inspire any confidence.

Thanks for your message @JasonNYC . From what little I've listened to the Activo- it sounds great. I think I have received one with defects that's all, and- I have personally found the Android/Apple transfer program to be particularly unstable. It's crashed three times copying no more than 30 albums, and it has usually crashed copying .m4a files, which to my mind- doesn't conclude anything. .m4a files play perfectly on the device and I don't for a second want to put people off buying a unit. I was personally just a bit irritated by the comment that if you just "install androidfiletransfer program to your Mac all will be well." and I was only irritated because that was not true for me.
@tezla7 thank you for the detailed PM. I responded back to your PM with more info.

From what you described, that is not normal on the CT10. We do apologize for the issues. I sent you info on options to get that repaired/replaced.

I also apologize for the response on the ALAC/m4a question. You are correct that iTunes saves ALAC files as m4a and the CT10 does support and will play back those files without issue.

AFT can be very temperamental when trying to transfer large amounts of data. It's best to break it up into smaller amounts at the same time, use a different program (Commander One Pro is highly recommended by most Mac users in these forums for Android-based DAPs) or you can use a microSD card reader and copy the files directly to the microSD card. Once the card is inserted into the CT10, the player will index the music and all will be accessible by artist, album, genre, etc.

We are currently looking into other program options for Mac users since Apple will probably not natively support Android devices anytime soon.

As per Jason's recommendation- apparently a better alternative is is Commander One Pro.

Yes, I apologise, 99 percent of the time AFT is all that's required to sort the file transfer issues from Macs. The light leak is visible on my unit too hence me guessing what you were talking about. I only noticed it however when in the dark. I can't see it when it's daylight.

I was listening to it at length yesterday and I have to say that it just gets better and better. Does get pretty warm though. Glad they didn't make it of metal. Lol

Now available from amp3 in the uk for those interested. Would get one but I suppose there is no audiobook/podcast support? Does it have any resume features at all?

Hi @JasonNYC, purely from spec and shape, this seems quite similar to original AK70. Do they share some DNA?

Just downloaded the firmware update to Version 1.11. A list of new features flashed briefly on the screen. I went to the Activo website to review the list again but I can't find it. Am especially interested in the "CD Ripper" and "CD Library" features. Does anyone know where to find details about V 1.11?

Would like to know this as well. Google isn't being particularly helpful on this. @JasonNYC may know.

My guess (and it’s just that) is that the new firmware adds support for their hardware CD Ripper product, which allows you to directly connect to supported Astell&Kern players to rip CD’s to WAV or FLAC directly to the player with no need for a computer.

.How does Activo ct10 compared to Hiby R3? Offline streaming service feature on Activo is a huge temptation but on the other hand Hiby R3 is on my mind for a long time. End of the day which one is better on soundwise? Which one provides more than Iphone 7 with its dongle?

CT10 is way more involving than the R3. I can really relax and enjoy the music on the CT10 and tbh I think it sounds better than the Kann.
