It has been for about 4 or 5 month since I got Fostex HP-A8 and some of you still reply and helping me thanks :) and I saw some of you talking about voltage. According to transformer topology there will be input/output ratio and circuit designing must have additional spec (I mean no one use electronic device at it full spec /Sorry for bad english) So changing a bit input voltage will change few volt on output plus some circuit will have Voltage Regulator, So I think 10V on input will be fine..or..maybe fine I don't sure about this depend on how are they designed it.

btw thanks to Fostex they left me 230V connector which match with my local voltage :D everything work very fine now. Fostex do the job very nice but too bad International version is very overpriced and driving power is not much on 300ohm. here's my last picture of my little system. I had make a move get a dedicated amp for more backup power since fostex sound good but drive HD800 not very well (At higher gain around -15dB sound is harder). this combo is good not the best but still good to me. Now i'm saving up and get more experience before next move or maybe next will be a big move. Thanks to you all again.

  Well...

Apparently they don't treat everything equally though.

good to know. Also there high end stuff. I was looking at their entry level amp and I just bought their 1600 yen extension cable for my IEMs.
1.4 watts per channel. Yeah. never ganna need that unless I find a bar of gold and can afford some HE-6.

Yeah. The fostex DACs seem like great DACs. the ONLY reason I am not getting one, is they don't have a very good dedicated integrated headphone amp. I need both an amp and dac for around 500 dollars (50,000 yen)

Also just wondering. I have seen other high end dedicated DAC with balanced XLR outputs.
This one has digital out.Doesnt ath defeat the purpose of a dedicated DAC?

In other words.
Dedicated DAC with analog balanced XLR outputs  > dedicated analog AMP with XLR inputs

Dedicated DAC with digital optical > to????

There's been a few more since the Luxmans & Yamamato days. There's Triode, Bakoon (Japan version), Heada, Phasemation, Mass Kobo, Ratoc, Orb, NMode, etc. In the (trans)portable there's Analog Squared Paper, MH Audio, Bispa, Furutech, Ortofon, VentureCraft, Wagnus, Kojo, etc. I'm sure there's lots more I've missed.

I wouldn't even dream of recommending which one to try 'cos if you're in Tokyo, you can try all yourself :D. Ping me if you want to know what shops to go to.

Hi, can I trouble you for some recommendations too? I'll be in Tokyo next month and looking for some cool JDM gear, amps, IEMs, accessories, etc, that can only be found in Japan. Thanks in advance.

If it's portable stuff, I recommend going to places like e-earphone in Akihabara and Fujiya in Nakano first. But have your internet handy to google up some of the obscure names. To be honest some of the unheard-of names I come across I don't even know if they're Japanese.

The more prominent names would be the likes of MH Audio, Analog Squared Paper, NewOpto, etc.

Desktop amps OTOH I think Fujiya and some of the other non-headphone specialised audio stores (i.e. speaker stores, etc.) may have of the other brands like Triode, etc. Those stores are like Dynamic Audio (multi storey depending on the level of audio), Tereon 110 (one of my fav, I bought my N804 & Accuphase there back in 2000), Audio Union, etc.

Hi there, thanks for the tips. I'm only interested in portable gear, the smaller the better. I'm hoping to find something unavailable elsewhere that will sweep me off my feet. I'd be most grateful if you could point me I the right direction. Thanks again.
