Well here's go's with my plight, I'm after everything source, amp, all cables, to feed these can's what they deserve. I listen to soft rock, electronic & pop.
 I know these cans are awesome as they are, my wish is to gain a little more separation from them and tighten that fat bass a little without the loss of conviction or warmth, may I say gain definition, please don't flame me this is what my ears telling me to believe.

any advice would be great, budget less cans as i have these £1200 u.k pounds

A small portable amp like the E7 is enough to give the HD25 a whole new life.  I replaced the stock steel cable with another copper HD25 cable.  It made a difference, albeit not as much as the E7 or choice of earpad does.  Stick with the pleather ones.  If they are too uncomfortable, stretch out the headband some more and it should be fine.  I love my HD25's now that they're worn in some.  Though now that I got the 650's they'll definitely see less use.
