Android phones and USB DACs

Should do the job nicely, Anker makes nice cables.

I received the above mentioned iFi pieces today (one micro USB the other USB C) and they are quite nicely made, easily bettering the build quality of the $1.99 more expensive Audioquest DragonTail. Not sure why they turned the orientation of the input 90° relative to the output.

@iFi audio : Does the above appear to have been properly manufactured? none of the product images depict the connectors that way including the one on the box front, and at least one other user who received the same 2 cables yesterday said his do not have the connectors at a right-angle with each other.

Does these cables really matter? Is the difference noticeable, I have also just ordered some anker cables, waiting for delivery.

Thats a very subjective thing and also depends on the partnering equipment. I think they matter, but only a little bit sonically speaking, the bigger improvement there is really the build quality and ultimate durability.

But they can and do sound different from a generic cable, exactly how different and whether or not that's "worth it" relative to the price is a question for each individual to answer in the context of their own set-up.

Generic build quality also varies, some generic cables are actually quite well made, while others are terrible. So even with the build quality it also depends on exactly what you are comparing it to.

Hello, can anyone confirm that Samsung A3 (2017) works fine as a digital transport via usb (OTG cable, UAPP) with an external DAC like ifi audio micro idsd?
Thanks

Do suggest to use a powered Hub instead.

Sometimes phones does not deliver enough power to usb DACs like my LG V20.
I need to have external power to use my Geek Out 1000. Instead my old Samsung Note 3 is all plug-and-play.

I have experimented with this generic type adapter that powered my portable DAC. And a powered hub for PC.
But hardly don't know any portable ones for mobile use.

Can't see the picture but if you mean the ZMI Usb Pd Backup Battery & Hub:
https://www.amazon.com/ZMI-Pixelboo...B072BD98CM?ref_=w_bl_hsx_s_wi_web_16952605011

Haven't tested it, but based on the description yes it will definitely will fill the bill.

Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking

And then, I wonder, would it work if I plugged a USB bluetooth dongle into ZMI, to get rid of the cable coming from phone? Would bluetooth be fast enough for hires files... I m tempted to try

Nope it will not work. USB DAC needs to be connected physically to the phone's USB connection.
