Android: Neutron Music Player

Where is this setting at? Is it in android or neutron player itself? In android when I go to settings -> apps -> neutron player I don't see any power settings.

I have an older LG V35, and it's in: Settings > Battery > Power Saving Exclusions

It's set to 'optimized' which is what my other music players are set at.

Tab S9.

I don't know if you have access to this setting on a new Samsung phone, but on my LG V35 I can see: Apps > App Info > Neutron Player > Battery > Power Saving Exclusions > Excluded

I'll give it a try when I get home, thanks.
Should be not optimized
This is the default for every single app install. All of my music apps are under this setting and they don't have this issue.

I'm going to try the Hiby player when I get home and see if it suffers from the same issue since it utilizes the USB DAC in a similar way. It's possible I have to change the battery settings for those kinds of apps but I doubt it.

Actually it is some Android's sporadic bug. Try uninstalling Neutron, reboot device and install again. During playback Neutron acquires CPU lock via Android's API and there is no bug in that area.

I just tried this (uninstall, reboot, reinstall) and same issue.

On OneUI 5.1 going to settings --> apps --> neutron player --> battery and switching it to 'unrestricted' fixed the issue.

Hiby Player has the same issue as Neutron with the sound cutting off after a few minutes. When you install Hiby, it asks if you want to set the battery mode to unrestricted, so I think they know about this issue.

Probably something that has to do with the USB DAC being connected?

There is thread in StackOverflow saying that REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS may result in app ban in Google Play. It probably makes sense to build such opt-out request in Neutron's Generic apk though (will consider it).

If playback breaks when output goes to USB DAC (Direct USB Access option is ON) then it means that OS is switching off USB BUS to save power. Neutron is trying to inform OS that it is currently playing some media content but it seems on some firmwares it is ignored by the OS.
