Am I so bad in identifying sound quality?

But yes, very lush and intimate. The bass will become (a little) better as you either get used to it or the diaphragm loosens up a little (depending on your stance on burn in, I guess). Though, they are no bass monster by any means, and the bass was lacking for me as well, even after burn in.. However, I agree that the little box was very nice indeed and that they sound great. I can imagine if mids is what someones looking, then they have a hard time finding better performance/price than the RE-262 (granted, I haven't heard the 1xx-series from Audeo). As for me, I quite like the IE80. The bass is not lacking and the highs are pretty damned good despite being a bit laidback. 

You will like the UE TF10s then.

@Coq de Combat - Do you use the amp to power the IE80 from your dap? Any change to SQ with the amp?
 
It seems my iphone 4s drives the IE80 effortlessly and that leads me to believe amp may not be needed.

Maybe, but I'm a little skeptic about that one. I'd say I have S/M sized ear canals, and have a hard time seeing myself ordering TF10 due to their massive housing and fit issues.

My J3 drives them effortlessly. Pretty much no differences at all IMO (if there in fact are differences, they are miniscule) - aside from a little less hissing from the amp. I don't think an amp is needed for you, at all, but I think that my DAP might be a little more powerful than your iPhone 4.

Bah, TF10 still getting recommended? They're a dinosaur, there are far better IEMs around.
 
BTW, I've tried RE262 and they're actually less bassy than RE272 in the sense of extension and dynamics. They have a touch more midbass.
Highs in RE272 are like RE0 and RE252, except much better in general.

 
Also, RE272 are easier to drive and a bit more efficient. All in all, I'd advise against getting RE262 for the reasons above.
 
Note when reading review: Joker didn't get a great seal, that's why he calls RE272's bass soft, which it actually isn't.

Maybe you can try the Westone 3s too, but the TF10s are known to be one of the best V-shaped IEMs around. Many people will have problem with their fit, sadly.

He did say it right. However, he has called the bass soft, which it's anything but. It's darn solid and kicking. Note he used his RE272 with stock tips which I've found to be ridiculous - the bi-flange was at best so-so. Put Comply T400 (or Ts400 - of the right size) on them and they shine!

Yeah, well, after the purchase of IE80 I'm not really looking into buying new IEMs for a while. I'm quite happy with them to be honest.
 
I used to be interested in the W3s as well, but the IE80 were cheaper and only a bit more expensive than the FX500 for me..

I said that about my TFTA's - run whilst you can, head-fi will get the better of you, ad make u order another pair, even though you don't need it.

I don't think that will happen to me. Well then look what happened to me in one month.
 
With that said, I think you should own no more than 2 pairs of IEM's and one headphone, assuming they are capable. Bottom line there is only so much these phones can improve the way you enjoy music. Many times the phones are probably over examined or hyped.
 
For me, it is highly unlikely that I will get into the world of cable/amp/custom. I would like to spend more effort searching for my favorite music.

Anyways. So how are you enjoying your Heir 8A's Kunlun? I was planning on getting those soon. I'm torn though between these or the SE 5 Way series. Especially if I'll get stuck paying customs fees on the Heirs it puts me in the SE 5 Series price bracket....
