Am I so bad in identifying sound quality?

Music4321 don't try to come off as the angel here. You have a tendency to be arrogant in your posting and even belittle people with your demeaning and self absorbed comments. Yes I do like the IE80 and yes I did have issues with the EX1000. Although I had a problem with the EX1000 doesn't mean I'm making a personal attack on others like you do. I may be expressing myself regarding the actual item but not using it to attack others like you do.

I'm starting to get the impression you're on Sony's payroll.

Fair enough.

I apologize to you for the misunderstanding and the disrespectful manner toward you in my previous posts. You may saw some of my posts at the Yamaha thread, and in my defense that was intended only after I was attacked and someone even got personal on me for what I said about the Yamaha.

However, I think mocking people who you disagree with is really not necessary. To me this is disrespectful to the forum member. Some of the concerns or issues can be dealt with privately thru PM's.

I totally agree that we should be honest with our opinions and not intentionally misleading people with hypes. When I stated at the Yamaha thread my honest opinion about the build quality, I got attacked by many including two scientists who are angry about my opinions. Because I own both EX600 and the EPH100, I feel the big difference in the build quality of the two which are now priced almost the same in the States. I was trying to alert the new buyers to consider that but got attacked.

I thank those including yourself who provided me their honest opinions which have helped me in my decisions on purchasing these phones in the last month.

That is a big difference people don't get - myself included. Often hard to be the politician, rather than the straight up guy.

Although personal attacks I on't like nor do, unless started on....

I said that about my TFTA's - run whilst you can, head-fi will get the better of you, ad make u order another pair, even though you don't need it.

LOL, the IE80s weren't my first rodeo, you know. Been through this for a long time and have had pretty many different headphones before (currently own 2 IEMs, 4 fullsize, 3 supra-aurals).. I know I can run but I can't hide.

It's definitely easier to listen to music while being comfortably hidden under some tree in the summer with a cold beer in your hand, than having to run away from costly things.

As a bonus from the sound isolation you can't even hear any more nagging from the wife.

Haha, yeah that's an upside for the moment. When those IEMs go out of your ears, be prepared for more nagging. Wives are like elephants, they never forget..

Oh, but don't feel sorry for me. :)

It's oh so addictive, and it's oh so expensive. But it's oh so wonderful too.

Thanks for your post -- apologies accepted. Just for the record, I'm not in the habit of mocking people who disagree with me, even if they disagree strongly. When I use sarcasm, it is for a reason and my intention is never to mock people but to make a point. I also understand that sarcasm can often be misunderstood and/or misinterpreted, specially when people don't know the history behind it (sometimes going back months or even years) or the exact context in which it is being used.

As for the Yamaha thread, I'm actually in two minds about whether I should post my impressions or not when I get my set in the next few days. I may write one post only, but even that seems rather pointless, TBH. I've noticed other people who had made valuable contributions simply do not post on that thread anymore -- I can fully understand why.

That is the thread I actually witnessed for the first time how a pair of IEM's got hyped. Honestly from my limited experience I don't consider the EPH100 to be a pair of IEM's with a strong "personality" in terms of SQ. I understand each individual has different taste for the sound sig also fit and sound isolation, but I really think the new buyers should look into the EX600 for the same price in US of A now. Many experienced headfi'ers speak highly of the EX600 and personally I enjoy it too (although it took a while) for my classical music in a 'new age" (in my own term) manner it produces the sound. Plus the EX600 is much better built IMO with replaceable cable. Every time I pick up the EPH100, it is felt cheap (has nothing to do the price) stuff in my hands. I know those guys at the EPH100 won't be happy to hear this but it is my honest opinion. Some people even ordered from Amazon for $150 when actually they could have it for $115 from J&R.

But trust me that nagging sometimes may sound even better than your music. LOL.

Goddang, what happened here in this thread... a pie fight?

Folks, any of RE272, EX1000 (which I've only checked out, not own), IE80 (same; I've owned IE8 shortly) and FX500 (also only had a cursory listen - and problems sealing?!) are great IEMs, just made for different ears and taste.
Not liking unboosted (flat) bass is not some fatal character flaw, you know - but it's why equalizers exist, so unless the IEM lacks dynamics there, it can be tuned.
--
Yeah, it seems like Grzegorz has lots of work due to advertising SE-5 here. :)

There are at least 3 reviews of SE-5, one hype, one balanced and a detailed comparison in NT-6 review. (comparison against almost all the other CIEMs)
It's the last one that convinced me actually. Mine are probably in the waiting queue.
Plus the thought that someone makes great IEMs in this hole of a country...

Hey guys, any ideas on how to convert DTS Wav audio files to MP3?

I can play the DTS WAV audio on foobar, but when I tried to convert them to mp3 it sounded only static.

EDIT: Never mind and figured it out.
