does anyone know whether both fuses in the holder are in use, or is one just a spare? some holders have an extra 'space' for a spare-so you know where it is..... My 'six' is in a tricky spot to get to the back of it, and I am not too keen on powering it on and off multiple times in a row, to test the fuse deployment... (technical translation-- why diy when you can just ask the experts?!):ksc75smile:

Still using my Studio 6 with Pope 6SN7. It’s a step behind my CFA3 in most technical aspects but there is something about the combination with my ES R10 headphones that is magic with acoustic music and vocals. Acoustic guitars in particular are crazy good. Great amp.

Both fuses are in fact active in the primary AC mains circuit.

If access to the rear-located power switch is difficult, a popular option is to leave the unit’s power switch on, and rather switch the unit on/off via a conveniently located (properly grounded) AC power strip.

Thanks for letting me know. My thought was simply to try to power it up with either fuse by itself and see if either one playing solo would make the amp work. Pulling either one randomly would not answer the question, since the other one could be 'it'. The amp is on a top shelf, and the housiing of the iec connector on the power cord I am using with it partially obstructs the pull-out fuse holder tray. I have the amp sitting on some ball-bearing-based isolation feet, so it 'sloshes' a bt when disturbed (don't we all!)

I am clearly a victim of first-world audiophile problems. Head-Fi is my online help-line of choice, and once again, it has come through for me.

A little “secret” of the ALO Studio-Six performance:

Very low intermodulation distortion (IMD)

Attached test image is excerpted from a comprehensive test review of the Studio-Six produced by Stephen Hornbrook in conjunction with ‘Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity’ and posted 30-July-2014. Visit this review page for associated information and commentary if interested:

I am not jealous. I know he is overwhelmed by the tyranny of choice for what to listen to. :)

I do keep forgetting that I have things here, and organisation is a PITA. Setting up the shot took quite a while.

I need more headphone stands. I have most of mine in their cases and they take up a lot of room.

Sadly, headphones sitting for very long on stands is sort of a non-starter here at our place.

Your location in Wisconsin is probably a lot less dry and dusty than here in Modesto CA.

With all the nearby agriculture and dry conditions —I’ve never before lived in a situation where so much dust gets into the house :unamused:

Constantly having to wipe-off all the audio gear…

The challenge here is during spring with all of the pollen from the trees.
