I guess not, N5005 won't fit ordinary MMCX Cables. Try some adapter 2.5->4.4 to use with stock cable. Moreover, ZX300 and even 1A/1Z won't be able to drive N5005 given their low output power.I ordered AKG n5005 couple of days ago, still waiting for shipment!. My dap is sony zx300 with 4.4 (muc-m12sb1) balanced cable.

Has anyone try to pair N5005 with this cable?. Does akg mmcx connector (pin) can fit with the sony cable?.

Which Dap would you recommend to be able to handle the N5005?. How much output power can drive this iem?.

I don’t notice any difference- have tested using with/without adapter on my FiiO M11 (which has both 4.4 and 2.5)
With regards to driving the n5005 - if you feel you need more power you could always try the iFi xCAN. It’s a fully balanced amp (with a balanced line in) that you could pair with your Sony. It also works as a great Bluetooth receiver. The xCAN sounds great!
I personally use iBasso DAP to drive with 6.2Vrms on Amp8 or even the lesser power Amp9. Before when I use ZX300 to drive N5005 on 4.4 I need to push to like 110/120 High Gain to listen on my usual level and I feel the bass was missing some of it's finesse. For portable use I think nowadays there are many good powering source for N5005, namely R6 Pro(not the original R6 with 10 Ohms Zout), DX160, M11/M11 PRO all good or a used Fiio X7iiWhich Dap would you recommend to be able to handle the N5005?. How much output power can drive this iem?.

These are very different headphones as one is a over ear and one is an iem. That being said, I will try my best.
I own both currently but the 702s do not get as much head time anymore. I'm going to ignore the comfort and Soundstage.
I use the mid high boost filters on my 5005s as they are the best at detail retrieval while maintaining sufficient bass. The reference filters lack a bit of brilliance imo.
The 702s are a lean headphone, they have detailed mid and upper bass but quantity is a bit lacking. A very old school akg house sound. They have a clean open and detailed treble that makes recordings feel very spacious. The 5005s have about as good of slam and impact as one could expect from an iem. The midrange Is probably a bit more relaxed than the 702s and although the 5005s are tremendously accurate in the upper frequencies they cannot give you what an open back will. That being said imo the 5005s are one of the absolute best sounding headphones EVER. With the prices 702s are at these days they are a great option for those not wanting to break the bank but they cannot compete with the 5005s when it come to accuracy.

I already have K702 and I really like them because I find them so detailed with beautiful mids and vocals. I would like to upgrade to something that can be at the same time portable, have the same characteristics (details, mids and vocals) and more exciting (I am not saying K702 are boring but I think they are not the most fun headphones). Do you think N5005 can be the right choice?

The mid high boost or treble boost filters should get you what you're looking for on the 5005, I also really like the presentation on the 3003s which have really dropped in price now that the 5005s are out. There are tons of iems to pick from when you are spending totl money, as iems can be very person dependent for comfort I'd recommend seeing if you can try some at meets to see what works for you.Thank you for your reply!

I have the K712 and N5005 and to me they are not very similar, to be honest I don't quite like either, the K712 is too lean and the N5005 is too dark to me. I like the K3003 more, but is kinda heavy, the cable is non replaceable and the carrying case is a joke. For IEMs I quite like the Drop JVC FXD0 which is not that expensive, is well made and also have different filters. I think that if you like the K702, you will be better with a pure BA IEM, specially something like the old knowles twfk.

I recently got this and my initial impression is that it's mids recessed with peaky treble, pretty much like the 3003 suffered from. I'm starting to dislike AKG tuning. I don't like when treble is so present like this, it's too much for my ears (can't be good for my hearing, who knows how high the peaks are). I need easy going treble. I know it causes crisp-ness to sound, but mids don't stand-out enough. It's a tuning that people would be fooled into thinking it's detailed, but it's not with boosted highs. One track, the male vocals sounded so soft and distant that it was hard to make out the voice.
The filters were useless. For some reason, the volume level is attenuated with filters other than the reference one. I could see why this iem is discounted. The tuning isn't to my liking.
One positive is, I like the bass response, and I think it's bass is an improvement over the 3003.

The filters do make a serious change to the
sound. The mid high boost are the Harman target. I highly recommend those.

I'm not saying the filters do not make a difference. Filters seems to mute the response in terms of volume and in frequency response. I found the latest Galaxy Buds+ (which is supposedly Harman as well) have emphasis in the 7-8k-ish as well (like the N5005), and it's becoming almost like a new modern AKG trend that does not jive with my hearing. The treble is above a comfort level for me. Just providing some feedback for you guys. The filters do make a serious change to the
sound. The mid high boost are the Harman target. I highly recommend those.
